After a really great Labor Day Week 1, College Football gets back to normal with a whole bunch of Power 5 teams playing cupcakes in Week 2 & 3 before heavy conference matchups startup. There's not too many matchups to watch and it'll be players just stat-building their resumes for the 2022 Draft.
Here are the matchups to consider watching in Week 2:
Noon ET:
#11 Oregon vs #4 Ohio State
As far as the actual games goes, I think Ohio State should win this matchup somewhat comfortably. There are two things to watch, IMO: 1) Ohio St's defense didn't look good Week 1 vs Minnesota and if they want to compete w/ 'Bama for the National Title, they'll need to be better, and 2) Oregon DE Kayvon Thibadeaux - arguably the top prospect in the 2022 Draft - looked good in Week w/ a strip sack, but he also left the game w/ an ankle injury. If he's able to play and he shows out on the national stage, that will go a long way to solidify his Top 5 draft status.
4:30 ET:
#18 Iowa vs #7 Iowa St
Funkytown - the state of Iowa takes center stage during Week 2 as this game should be the Saturday evening showcase game instead of Washington at Michigan. There will be plenty of 2022 Draft prospects on display so this should be the one game to watch this weekend and it's one of the few matchups with ranked teams going against each other. Iowa St QB Brock Purdy really needs a game like this to get the attention of NFL Scouts and this should be that matchup. If Iowa is able to win this on the road, this should setup a really great matchup on 10/9 against Penn St in Iowa City that should be the Saturday evening game that week.
10:15PM ET
#24 Utah vs BYU
This game is nicknamed "The Holy War" and is the battle for the state of Utah so it should be a good one. One reason for anyone to watch is Utah QB Charlie Brewer - a transfer from Baylor who's also a 2022 Draft QB prospect. This should be a win for Utah if they want to compete in the Pac-12 against UCLA, Oregon or USC so it will be interesting if they can leave Provo still undefeated.
