Zimmer was non-committal on how long the starters would play in preseason Wk #2 - he stated "I haven't decided yet"....
At the very least, I think the starting OL should play the better part of the 1st half so they have NFL-game action reps. We have to remember that Hill is likely starting, Ezra is playing a new position and Oli is likely starting - the only constants on the OL are Bradbury and O'Neill. They're going to need reps to gel and I think it's worth the injury risk to get those starting 5 as much work in the preseason as they can get so it's not totally raw come Wk 1 at Cincinnati.
I don't think the starting skill position players need much work - just a series or two. Ditto for most of the DL and starting LB unit - the one exception being the DE spot opposite Hunter; Wonnum and Weatherly need the reps.
I'd give the secondary the 1st qtr to get some snaps.
....but the unit that does need the most reps is the OL, IMO, and they should play most of the 1st half, regardless of who's under C or who the skill position players are.
There about 10-15 players I don't play at all
