To sum up what I am trying to say without turning this into another rip Kirk thread..
It is simple 2 roads either we extend him or move on soon. The reason I say Super Bowl or bust for him is. I am afraid if we go far and lose and we get tricked into extending him it will set us back years. We been down this road before almost and then not close for multiple years. I think extending him even for a deep run will be his peak and then his salary will deplete us and we will start losing guys.
By understanding that and moving on in a year or 2 expands our chances of finally becoming a champion if he doesn't deliver. He will count about 20% of the roster next year and I can't even imagine what a new deal for him will look like. A want him to win it, but if he can't I am pulling for a good run and plan B which is to trade him after a good year. We would get value and major cap relief for the overall roster.
People think my Super Bowl win or bye on Kirk is harsh how? I am trying to avoid a trap that will cost us years. It is the price tag, this a business. We can't afford for him to be eating all the cap like that and we are in the playoffs out the playoffs year after year.
It's a team game right is what Kirky people say and I say damn right. He making to much of the money and like the 7th or 8th best player on the team relative to his position for us and getting old. If he making that much he should be numero uno on the team, top 3 for sure, and a clear carrier of the team that stirs the drink. Just like Rodgers, Mahomes, Brady, and Russ do. Providing championships and constant playoff runs. He is the scapegoat because he is the one swallowing up major cap space and that's real. Nothing personal strictly business baby. I WANT RESULTS!
