Again its a one year deal that adds a great player to the team lol Has nothing to do with Pierce or Tomlinson, the same way the CB signings have nothing to do with theyre scared of Danztler. Its the Vikings essentially looking at last years defense and want to see no part of it next year even if theyre are some injuries there is just no chance it gets down to the level of last years group of guys. Richardson like many of the other 1 year deal guys will likely not be on the team next season im guessing will get paid somewhere else. Im excited this should be the best Viking team we have seen in a while.

It's that simple. Get the best players for your team and go battle it out for a Lombardi. Richardson should help the D improve this season and that's why we signed the guy.

Interesting how he played less snaps than I remember with NYG. But I still don't think Pierce compares all that favorably to him otherwise. And that's not a knock of Michael. Run stuffing NT is absolutely still a legit role in the League and always will be IMO.

But if he doesn't nail down the spot or Tomlinson and Richardson perform better as a duo he could be 1 and Done. Not sure that will happen as Sheldon has always been far more interested in QB pressures than stopping the run.

Why don't you think Pierce compares favorably to Joseph? They both are big guys that demand double teams and stop the run.

Yeah, and on the other hand he might be the most impactful DT we have on the field this season. Who knows?? It sounds like you're doubting Pierce before he has played a meaningful down for us.

I know I like the combination of the 3. Could Pierce be one and done yes, he could also make a Linval impact.

I am just ready to watch and enjoy the ride. On paper Rick and Rob did their job. As a reasonable man that is all I can ask.

A puncher's chance we do have the horses now we can wait and see where the chips fall.

If all 3 remain healthy which is a big "if" in a 17 game season the number of snaps between the 3 will be somewhat evenly distributed.

1. Tomlinson
2. Richardson
3. Pierce

Pierce is a big boy so he won't be able to handle a huge number of snaps.

I really like Richardson's attitude coming in.

Pierce v Linval Joseph when they became Vikings - Joseph was much more athletic, and both are heavy but Joseph has a bigger frame to carry weight. Anyway, Pierce has more of a challenge ahead of him to get playing time now.

Good signing but still this off season feels like loading up to save jobs. If this team makes the playoffs but next year has big turnover and miss the playoffs it will be more of the same. IF they win it all...who cares about next year.

Zimmer wants to stop the run, first and foremost, always has. That is why they gave Michael Pierce a $27 million contract, not to sit on the sidelines for two thirds of every game. It is also one of the reasons Sheldon Richardson wasn't retained after 2018 in the first place.

Now that he's back, and seems to accept that his role is rushing the passer and only that I think he and Zim will both be happier together.

That said, if Richardson does play more than Pierce this year? That could portend really good things for the Vikings because teams are passing all the time because the Vikings are ahead.
