SB Winning Teams By the Numbers

I agree, there is a significant difference between the Cousins of 2018 and the Cousins of 2019 and it is likely due to Zimmer.  One took shots downfield, made risky throws and only won 8 games.  The other played within the system, turned the ball over the fewest times of his career, and won 10 games and his first playoff game.  Zimmer took away chances for Cousins to fail, and so he failed less.  

This is the only version of Cousins that gives the team a chance to win significantly more games than they lose.  He isn't Mahomes.  He is an average QB who needs a lot to go right to succeed. Having a good defense, a strong run game and minimizing turnover worthy plays is how you make those things go right.  

I find it odd that people who know Cousins is a big step below the great QBs in the NFL still want him to do things only the great QBs can do.  We know what he is, Zimmer knows what he is and if you want more it is time to stop blaming the coach for treating an average QB like an average QB, and start asking for the Vikings to try and get better at that position.
