Cousins 2021-22 stats prediction.

I'm convinced we would have done worse with Case Keenum in 2018. Case was a 1 year wonder IMO and I fully enjoyed the ride in 2017 but I personally didn't want nothing to do with him after that. He had some serious moxie but his unique escaping abilities would've only taken him and the team so far before he got crushed in 2018. Keep in mind that Compton and a RT Remmers were the starting guards in 2018 and his 3rd WR was Treadwell.

Kirk Cousins might not be the top 5 QB everyone wants (for more rea$ons than not) but he still throws dimes all over the field. There's a good reason Kirk puts up decent stats. He can spin it and is pretty accurate on most of the throws a QB needs to make game in and game out. Keenum was very limited and with DeFilippo calling the shots would have struggled IMO. There was zero running game to fall back on like the balanced offense Keenum had in 2017 with Shurmur and Sparano.  

At times backup QBs like Foles and Keenum find the ideal situation and do well for a time but they fail to consistently play at that high level like a Aaron Rodgers or better starting QBs. Think Hostetler, Dilfer etc........ Bill Parcells left so Hostetler was F'ed so to speak and the Ravens drafted Grbac after their SB win. The writing was on the wall for those 2 backups.

Kirk is my guy because he's a Viking and I think he's a good QB. I don't care to much for his pocket presence or his mobility but he has game. I also don't care what he's paid to play QB for us.  

Money aside Kirk needs to up his game as our QB. Make those crucial plays during a season that could be the difference between a win and a loss. Show up in the big moments and get it done.

I agree just know that 45 million is alot next year when we need to pay Hunter, O'Niell and Harrison Smith. I'd take those 3 with Mond then Cousins in 2022. I will root for Cousins in 2021 but he needs to go after this year

Has Kirk Cousins' original contract and following extension hurt this team? Are the Vikings the only team to push money down the road when signing certain players? Salary-cap hell? I'd love to hear people's thoughts on this.    

We do have other over priced players too like Cook but I would rather over pay a guy like Hunter & Smith then Cousins especially since we could potentially have a good QB behind him making about 44 million less in 2022. I'm excited to see how Mond looks vs 2nd & 3rd string guys this August. If he looks anything like Sloter or rookie Teddy looked in the preseason then we have something we could build around in the future. If he looks like a deer in the headlights like Ponder then we might have to worry a bit.
