Cousins 2021-22 stats prediction.

Here is the problem in what I described. Rick wont let Kirk walk if he has a statistically good year or if the team wins more games then they lose. That's when he gives extensions. He did that once with Case let him walk. The nucleus of the team clicked and hasn't done so since. If Rick let Kirk walk on a high productive year and went another direction unless directed by ownership he'd be done if they failed. Rick will do what he needs to stay employed.

The other side is if Kirk and the team fail they won't have any buyers for a 1 year 35 million dollar cap hit. The leverage Kirk has is it's fully guaranteed so he has no insensitive to reduce his contract unless a team ponies up in a big way. In other words he won't budge. Kirk wins no matter what.

Kirk will always have the fools gold stats by years end always has. Dig deep and those glorious stats have always been fluff.

Is this really true?
What if the Wilfs want to win a Super Bowl, and what if they are not satisfied if the Vikings go 10-7 and lose in the playoffs to a better team? What if the Wilfs are smart enough to conclude that their team is unlikely to win a Super Bowl with Cousins and his contract? I hear the Wilfs wanted the Vikings to draft a QB like Mond who might become a good NFL QB. What if the Wilfs want to move on from Cousins and his contract? If a fan like me can conclude that the Vikings are unlikely to win with Cousins, why can't the Wilfs and Spielman and Zimmer come to the same conclusion? I think they can and probably have. If we don't think this possibility is likely, I think we underestimate the Wilfs. They did not build their businesses by being absentee owners.

Kirk is their guy for 2021. If they can build a stronger team without Cousins, (with more money available, they will keep their best players and possibly sign some good free agents), they are much more likely to be able to build an elite defense and have a good offensive line. I will not be surprised at all if Cousins has a good 2021 and then they trade him if they are confident that Mond can start in 2022. If the Wilfs support or push this strategy, Spielman will not need to keep Kirk to keep his job.

If none of the above is true, maybe the problem is not Spielman or Zimmer. It would be the Wilfs. But I don't see the Wilfs as I saw Mike Lynn or Red McCombs. I see involved, patient owners who make investments. I also see owners who will not be patient with Spielman and Zimmer for another 5 or 10 years. If the Vikings do not build the elite defense and good offensive line by the 2023 season, and if they don't contend in either 2022 or 2023, I see them moving on from both Spielman and Zimmer.

Example I had a brain stall and could not get close enough to the "acceptance" for autocorrect to even help me. Then my brain finally farted and cleared the air. Acc not exc. Kept wondering...man why you giving me words like excellence?

At the end of 2017 I wanted to resign Case for 2 years and draft a young guy. I was over Sam even if I thought of him as the most talented one you could just tell his knees were never going to carry us. Teddy was still not ready to be counted on to be healthy either. When it became apparent we weren't signing any of them we had a brief time of total uncertainty before we could sign Kirk. Landing him was a relief but I didn't like the cost. I did like that he was never injured and put up good numbers. By mid season 2018 you could tell the chemistry was just not there like it was with Case. Maybe we couldn't have ever recaptured it even with him. I'm ready to be over Kirk now too. As soon as a viable option is ready. Unless Kirk wins us a SB this signing won't be a success. It's not a knock on him but just how close we were when we got him. I don't see that in him though.

Yep a huge difference between great and sucks but the same outcome with Kirk. I think that's the disconnect many can't grasp.

The point I'm trying to get across is if Kirk has a good year why would anyone want to trade him? I'm not talking fans I'm talking the Viking brass and staff.

Know if he has a bad year what team would want to trade and pay him what he is guaranteed to make plus draft pick(s). It doesn't make any sense.

We do know what the specifics are. Kirk is going to get 45 million in 2022. Kirk is not going to get less. His 2022 salary is 100% guaranteed. This is what I'm trying to get you to understand.

To be honest I wanted Rick Zimmer and Cousins gone years ago. I'm just being realistic about how unlikely it is Kirk will be gone. The only way it may happen is if the Wilfs eat a butt load of Kirks contract and that will basically kill another offseason for free agents. It may also be the last of both Zimmer and Rick which will mean a lot of changes to the roster and it won't happen until 2023 when they actually have cap before free agency actually starts.

I'm not going to waste time discussing Mond at this point. I don't see much from him going forward and that's where I'll leave that. I have no time to get deep into it now. IMO just another Jimbo Fisher product that will fizzle.
