Next up, the WRs. Similarly to 2020, this is a deep class:
I absolutely love Chase and Smith at the top of this draft class. Both have top-notch speed, great hands, and destroyed CBs who will go on to play in the NFL. I think the concerns about Smith's weight (a low 170 lbs while at 6'0") are overblown. I'm a bit more apprehensive on Jaylen Waddle, as he reminds me a lot of Alabama's Henry Ruggs III, who somehow went #1 among WRs last year. After more review he's clearly a better prospect - he's had a lot more experience and is better at the point of catch - but I am concerned about injuries derailing his effectiveness and I've never liked short WRs (he's 5'9") that are slated to be #1 WRs.
The second tier of WRs has a lot of offer as well. Marshall Jr. found himself behind Chase and Justin Jefferson, but still produced at a high level with 23 TDs in his last 19 games. He's got wheels and great hands as well. Moore is on a similar level of Waddle - just 5'7", but runs a 4.31 '40 and has some injury questions. Toney is a top-notch separator, but has character issues. Bateman is a fantastic route-runner with great hands, but doesn't look quite as fast on tape as he ran at his Pro Day.
This class features a lot of shorter WRs, as Moore, Rodgers, Shi Smith and clock in at 5'9", with Eskridge and Atwell also coming in at 5'8". The classic "slow possession WR" is almost nowhere to be seen in the early rounds here. Notable WRs above 6'2" include Collins, Fehoko, Williams, and Grimes.
With my board hosting a whopping 17 WRs ranked between a 3rd to 4th round pick, there's a decent chance the Vikings will land one of those guys with a 3rd/4th rounder. Who do you like?
