The Vikings are getting a talented player who would've gone higher if it wasn't for some off-the-field and injury issues.

He was ejected from a game for targeting but that’s not really a ‘character’ thing. I haven’t really found anything else either so it’s probably just some overblown concern.

I hope so.... I heard one guy (when analyzing our draft picks) say something along the lines of "he's got some off the field concerns... the question will be if he can stay focused"

vikingpitbull He also got into a fight playing my Alma mater ISU when they smoked TCU and the BIG 12 looked into suspension also 33 athletes had some run in with being paid for work they didn't do.

slapnut19 Failed weed tests aren't the same as years past especially with the new cba.

Might want to look into it. Far from a free pass. Gladney also has maturity issues that need worked on and anger issues as well. Two in game fights that I recall. His style of play will also not hold up in the NFL.

PurpleKoolaid I am a lot more hopeful of our other new CB, Danzler. He could be pretty good. Glad reminds me of another bust like hughes.

It looks like giveu1guess and vikingpitbull were right to have concern for Gladney. Now if you had only made PPA predictions you'd be scoring big right now!

I wasn’t impressed with his play or his selection when we took him. If this is true it just validates what I thought was a poor selection anyways. We don’t need to take a cb every other year in the first. Obviously they struggle to get good ones that stick maybe they should change their drafting philosophy with that position. With the type of play we have been getting out of guys like Hughes, Wayne’s and gladney (although still a little early on him) we realistically could get just as good production out of second and third round players at cb.

I agree. His problem could well be more with the league then the courts. If she takes a settlement to end the legal process the Shield will still review the reports and evidence. (Edit: this appears to be domestic so more then likely she will just drop it.) They have repeatedly shown they don't need a conviction to punish under the personal conduct policy. In the case of these young men buying their way out of trouble I lean toward respecting the leagues stance on that.

Just wanted to highlight that Ricky knew the risks.... and still gambled.

How he wouldn't be held accountable for that is beyond me......

We possibly just flushed a 1st round pick down the drain ffs....... not exactly a small deal here if the goal is winning the Superbowl......

You know it's not just about wealth when it's domestic. Plenty of women of all classes choose to drop charges against their guy. This is a football and a life topic so it good here.

It is off topic, but since this is one of the rare off topic things I agree with you on, I wanted to respond.

The system exists this way for a couple of reasons. #1 because almost half of politicians are made up of lawyers (the rest are career politicians who have never actually worked in the real world), and they have a vested interest in people paying a lot for legal representation. #2 because the people in charge in Washington and locally like that if they do something wrong they have a chance to buy their way out of it. The majority of them have something they have done that could be considered criminal, so it would be foolish of them to get rid of their get out of jail free card.

The report reads pretty much like a suspension is coming regardless of his legal issues. So cut or not we are more then likely going to being losing his services for a portion of the season.
It is an ugly story regardless and as a team issue are we looking at another 1st rd CB pick that maybe(?) doesn't stay on the team. How many high picks at this position are gone? Enough to make a top Oline? Is this a curse for the CB whisperer?
