All three are proven career losers. That is an indisputable fact. Some people don't like and at the same time choose to ignore this fact due to their biases.
There have been a lot of good players, great even, who never achieved the ultimate goal. That goes for the Vikes and the NFL as a whole.
Career losers is pretty harsh, especially coming from you, who seems to have a pretty big issue when people throw former Vikings under the bus. Why the loyalty to former and not current? After all, career losers and such.
Drank summed it up nicely. They all have strengths and weaknesses. Every Vikings team, unfortunately, has failed since 1961. We know the odds are against us, but, they're who we have ... and I know I'll be rooting for them to get the job done.
With every year that passes, the urgency grows and so does the frustration. It mounts exponentially and has been for years. Last year was more frustrating than the year before. And the year before was more frustrating than the year before that. Just because the first 60 years were fruitless does not mean that the next 60 years deserve equal benefit of the doubt and forgiveness as the first 60. The scrutiny increases and patience decreases with every passing year by a factor of 10. I wouldn't expect a casual like you to understand that though.
BUT! Lucky for you, and the rest of us, we have Rick Spielman at the helm. Rick has been called a lot of things... a Career loser, The QB Whisperer, The Draft Guru, The most fit GM in NFL history.... but champions are not built overnight. Rick likes to take his time to build and construct a winner that will win for decades, not just once. Meanwhile, he has gladly taken the slings and arrows from an ungrateful fan base and people like giveu1guess and vikingpitbull while slowly and meticulously slaving away in his office. Watching tape. Making trades. Setting smoke screens. Acquiring 7th round draft picks. Running circles around the rest of the NFL GM's who are playing the short game while Rick plays the long game. We are on the precipice of greatness the likes nobody has ever seen.
In your world, Funky, next year is always the year, regardless of our roster or coaching staff. If the local JV team suited up for the season, you'd still shake those pom poms gleefully. Fortunately, your "next year is always the year" mantra is actually going to be right this time. For Rick is our savior and every coaching and roster decision is blessed by his anointed hand. This includes Zimmer and Cousins. There is your answer, OP.
