The smart people understood that Bill O'Brian overstayed his welcome and the Texans should've fired him a year ago, but because the dunces in charge convinced themselves their problems weren't his fault and their 2019 record wasn't 1-15, they kept him. Fast forward to October 2021 and O'Brian put the Texans in a hole the dunces realized he actually DID suck and fired him. End result, the entire season killed and wasted because they couldn't possibly recover with a temporary coach running the time on the fly, the Texans are the laughing stock of the league and DeShaun Watson is demanding to be traded.
Ironically the Texans' opponents in O'Brian's final game are in the same exact position. The smart people understand that Mike Zimmer has overstayed his welcome, he should be fired and the Vikings should be finding an exciting new coach and staff to get the most out of Kirk Cousins and Dalvin Cook. But unfortunately the dunces in charge convinced themselves that Zimmer isn't the problem since our record wasn't 1-15, and I guess they're going to blame our failure to get into the playoffs on on what? Anthony Barr on IR and Covid? puh-lease... Fast forward to Fall 2021, and Zimmer is going to have us stinking right out of the gates and will realize should've fired him in January and drop him then. (Kubiak will have retired by then so he can't take over), Our 2021 season will be over, and yet ANOTHER of Dalvin Cook's rare healthy seasons will be wasted.
I pray i'm wrong and the best parts of Zimmer (there really is no single season that he did a great job) showcase in 2021 and Kirk hits his potential, the defense finally gets their act in gear and we finally make the playoffs, but we look to be heading straight into Dan Quinn, Anthony Lynn, and Bill O'Brian territory. As teams who waited too long to make the change at the coach position and end up KILLING an entire season ala Texans and Falcons.
A very simple question as to wondering if you should fire Zimmer. What team can have the #1 RB in the league, the hottest rookie WR since Randy Moss, and the highest paid QB in the NFL and finish 7-9? the team coached by Mike Zimmer...
