Pop quiz Danchat, would you rather have Sean Mannion and the 6 best WR's in the NFL, or Patrick Mahomes and the 6 worst WR's? With everything else being equal. For simulated games.
I tested this with the latest rosters from football idiot, with a few tweaks. First I tweaked the season until it produced realistic stats. If you simulate everything as is, every QB in the league ends up with 30 INT's, Lamar Jackson rushes for 2400 yards etc. Unacceptable lol. After getting it close enough, I then had a fantasy draft letting the CPU make all the picks for every team. Then I simulated the same season a number of times to find the most average team. In this case the Buccaneers.
From there I moved Mahomes and the 6 worst WR's to the Bucs. The 6 worst that were on active rosters anyway. Then I simulated 10 seasons with injuries on and threw out any season where Mahomes missed a game or didn't throw at least 95% of the team passes.
Then I did the same but moved Mannion and the 6 best receivers to the same Bucs squad. So same schedule, same everything, except WR's. Kyle Rudolph was the Bucs TE BTW. Why Mannion? I wanted a bad QB who I was familiar with and Mannion had the 96th best QB rating, which means he's a 3rd string QB on the worst passing team in the league essentially. That's our #2 in real life . I simulated 10 more seasons, same rules as Mahomes.
So what's your guess? Were the Bucs better with Mahomes or Mannion? And who put up the better numbers? The 6 receivers for Mahomes all had a 78 OVR. The 6 for Mannion were all at 99.
I'll give you some time to offer up a theory before I post the results.
