It is time for the final update:
Snap Counts Week 17
HB Mattison - 50 / 80 (62.5%) 90.4 PFF
145 yards total for the backup HB. It's hard to say how impressive that is against the Lions, but that's 2 100+ yard games this year (Seattle) for him despite never getting the ball due to Cook's bellcow status. It is clear he doesn't have Cook's speed and struggles to get through the shaky O-line at times.
With Kubiak likely retiring, perhaps Mattison gets a bigger role next year.
HB Abdullah - 16 / 80 (20%)
HB Boone - 12 / 80 (15%)
It's another light season for these two. Abdullah provided 7 yards on 3 catches, and Boone averaged 6 YPC on 5 touches. Boone deserves more chances, and will be an RFA. Abdullah is going to be 28 and isn't anything special.
FB Ham - 32 / 80 (40%) 70 PFF
Another quality game for Ham. Out of the other two who received 3 year deals this offseason, K Bailey and P Colquitt, it's the fullback who was the best of the bunch.
WR Beebe - 20 / 80 (25%) 65.5 PFF
WR Johnson - 8 / 80 (10%)
Beebe got really lucky on his TD, as the Lions' safety thought the play was over. It reminded me a bit of the Minneapolis Miracle. He's already going to be 27 next year, and he is one of the worst 3rd WRs in the league.
Bisi deserves another chance to make the team next year, but the coaching staff stopped giving him chances after Week 2.
TE Smith Jr. - 63 / 80 (78.8%) 54.8 PFF
TE Conklin - 57 / 80 (71.3%) 60.1 PFF
PFF gave them both poor blocking grades. Smith Jr. needs to be utilized more in the passing game. Conklin less so, but he has at least been able to catch well. They really love using their 2 TE packages.
LT Hill 69.1 PFF (4 pressures)
LG Dozier 63.9 PFF (2 pressures)
C Bradbury 61.8 PFF (4 pressures, 1 sack)
RG Cleveland 56.8 PFF (1 pressure)
RT O'Neill 66.1 PFF (3 pressures)
T Udoh (2 snaps)
There you go, folks, Oli Udoh got to play 2 snaps all year! Hooray! Meanwhile, Dozier got to play all 16 games for some inane reason. Someone needs to be fired for this. Bradbury was horrendous in pass protection. He's in full bust status right now. The line run blocked rather well, albeit against Detroit's awful front seven.
Defense
DE Wonnum 51 / 58 - 58.8 PFF
DE Mata'afa 45 / 58 - 62.5 PFF
DE Yarbrough 20 / 58 - 45.6 PFF
DE Brailford 8 / 58
Wonnum has faded into oblivion since the Packers game. He's been a non-factor. Mata'afa at least looks like he belongs at DE, and recorded the Vikings' only sack. Yarbrough proved to be a waste of time. Brailford didn't get much of a chance.
DT Stephen 41 / 58 - 41.1 PFF
DT Watts 35 / 58 - 61.1 PFF
DT Johnson 30 / 58 - 45 PFF
DT Lynch 3 / 58
Armon Watts turned out to be our best DT, which is a truly embarrassing feat. Stephen has been an awful FA signing, which never made in the first place when 3 tech was always a need. Jaleel has possibly been the worst Vikings DT I've ever watched. Lynch didn't get a chance, which is telling with how awful the rest of the group has been.
LB Wilson 58 / 58 - 59 PFF
LB Davis 50/ 58 - 69.4 PFF
LB Dye 21 / 58 - 34.5 PFF
Wilson is a pretty big liability against the run, and has been exposed with Kendricks missing. He had another great game in coverage, and some team will pay him for that (and blitzing). Davis had a quality game and has been a decent backup option. Dye still has no idea what he's doing out there.
CB Gladney 58 / 58 - 59 PFF
CB Hand 57 / 58 - 47.7 PFF
CB Tankersley 22 / 58 - 55.7 PFF
CB Mabin 19 / 58 - 51.2 PFF
Mabin and Tankersley got their first shot, and didn't do very good. I thought Hand did well, as he allowed 1 catch on 4 targets. He's worth giving a roster spot in 2021.
