Are you old enough to remember the last time the Vikings beat the Seahawks? Yeah, me neither! lol. Let's see what some of the Seahawks fans are saying about the SNF matchup against our Vikes.

So, are we gonna hear the term "Trap Game" every time we play a lesser opponent?
Probably, because then the poster looks intelligent if we lose; thus there is a positive takeaway for that poster even in the discouragement of losing: "yeah, we lost, but I called it."
What does the "trap game" idea suggest about the Seahawks players and coaches? That they don't take another NFL team seriously enough to train hard, prepare well, game-plan specifically?
The only time this might be the case is if a team has a shorted week due to a Thursday night game. And that's just time for preparation, not a psychological issue per se.

There's no way a Mike Zimmer coached team will be overlooked by Seattle. Zero chance.
Kirk Cousins, when with the (then) Redskins, beat Wilson and the Seahawks a few years back, at the CLink, with a late-game comeback, playing behind a 2nd-string offensive line. Cousins occasionally has games where he comes through. I think Cousins is 0-for-50 in "big" games at last check. Russell won't be taking a Kirk Cousins-led team lightly; Cousins beat Russell in college too, on a Hail Mary.
Anyway, if Russell and the Hawks take care of business, 0-for-51. The 50 is a made-up-number, but probably not too far off.

Vikings.com page where everyone predicts a one-score win by the Seahawks. I mean:
Pre-game win probabilities: Vikings 26% — FiveThirtyEight.com
0 of 8 experts pick the Vikings, CBS Sports
0 of 7 experts pick the Vikings, USA TODAY Sports
1 of 6 experts pick the Vikings, The MMQB
0 of 10 experts pick the Vikings, ESPN
I can imagine the Seahawks locker room feels the same.
As far as calling it a trap, I called it a trap before the Miami game. Miami we should have dominated and for the most part we did. Minnesota is a better team with a bad record. Given this will be the first pound the rock team we'll face with Dalvin Cook, we might see a very lopsided TOP allowing only 6 or 7 Seahawks drives.
This team is not as young as some we've had in the past under Pete, but if 4-0 and pre-game predictions go to their head I can see this one getting away from them. That said, the Vikes secondary is suspect so late game Russ heroics are certainly not out of the question.

I do like Purple Pain's game day thread title though: Week 4 Vikings vs Texans Support Group. I think we should adopt that here.

Two things loom this weekend that could potentially be huge factors. Dalvin Cook and the rain. And speaking of Cook, we have all been enjoying watching Russ cook so far this season, but I for one don't think cooks like to cook in the rain. Call me crazy and even go look up stats to try to prove me wrong, but Russell Wilson is just plain not as effective in the rain, especially when talking about a prolific passing offense. Even if the rain doesn't prove to be a factor Sunday, I have this game as our first potential true trap game. Vikings come in with a sub-par record and Kirk Cousins, while hardly lighting it up in the stat sheets this year, has beaten us in Century Link before, so it wouldn't be a foreign feeling for him.
I would normally predict a loss in this one but I would be crazy to bet against Russell right now. Rain or not.
Aros' Fearless Prediction: Seahawks 33 - Vikings 27

I expect the Vikes to give the Hawks a good battle. And Cook is a hell of a player. Fortunately, the Hawks have been solid against the run. Force them to beat you in the air, I don't see Cousins winning a prime time game, let alone in Seattle.
Hawks put up another 30 burger and hold the Vikes down in the 4th quarter when it matters.
Russ with 3 TD passes (one to DK another to Lockett) Carson with a rushing TD. Hawks D forces the opponent to settle for 4 field goals. Bend don't break works yet again......
Hawks 37-26

Hawks never been 5-0. Vikings are much better then their record says. I believe this is the type of team that causes Seahawks fits this year. Well balanced and will actually slow RW down like the lesser Dolphins did last week. If Russ has an average performance we lose. That's just what we have with this team this year. Still think Hawks find a way to win.
24-20 Hawks

We lose this Sunday.
34 to 31.
34 to 31.
I don't think it will be that close. The Vikes are meh, and that was before Russ was having an MVP year. Russ will get it going Sunday with 4 td's, even in the rain, Carson gets one rushing, and Cousins gets picked off twice. This is the Hawks' year. Hawks 38-24.
This will be their toughest game so far. Expect another frustrating day from the Defense.

Simply, we own the Vikings. We have won our last 6 against them, including the playoffs.
They are always a "weird" team...they look so good on paper, but they don't perform to expectations. Always good, but never able to take that next step.
I am concerned about Thielen and Jefferson against this defense, without Jamal Adams again. We need to dig up a pass rush somewhere.

Pete Carroll is 6-0 vs the Vikings since he became the Seahawks coach. Min #5 Rush Offense vs Sea #3 Rush Defense. Hawks win in a close lower scoring game. 24-23
The two games I saw the Vikings play this year was pretty bad. I would have probably went for the strong point win given how they look, and the inability of Cousins to play well in major national broadcasts.
But, there is the rain to consider. How much of an effect it will have is hard to say, but you have to think passing will be a challenge. Fortunately, we do have a really good RB in Carson. We also have a very strong defense against the run this year to date. So I believe we will win, but the score is going to be somewhat lower.

A fun little prediction..
On O we have Russ and some casual normal day stats 29/32 for 350yds and 4tds/0ints, maybe a few first down runs for the giggles. DK has his first career 2 TD game, Lockett and Dissly get one each to, probably a rushing TD from Hyde or Carson in the 2nd half. Russ ties with Manning for 20 passing TDs in 5 weeks. Russ also beats Matt's completion record. Vikings secondary is flabbergasted.
On D our secondary plays phenomenal, finally looking like a competent unit with Neal at Strong and Dunbar coming back to play at Right corner. Griffin gets another INT off a pass KJ gets his hands on (Another INT he could of had lol). Other turnovers include a Cook fumble recovered by us from Big Boy Snacks knocking the ball out. D Line begins to start generating a little pressure, Alton and Shaquem both get sacks. Collier is harassing Cousins all night to, and after a disastrous 1st quarter Cousins tops it off by throwing a pick 6 right to Quandre at the end of the half- we get our first defensive TD. Defense holds the Vikings to a Thielen TD and a few FGs. Lot of running I think in the 2nd half, Pete Carroll tries not to get caught with his mask down. Angry fists to waist Mike Zimmer shots.
Hawks put the NFL on notice in stunningly bright-green fashion once again, winning 42-16.

Just rest everyone. I would really like to see cousins and the Vikings try to beat us. They are not a good football team right now.
They’re playing fairly well, they’ve just had a tough schedule. But it’s Kirk Cousins in prime-time. That reduces their chances significantly.
Vikings were up on the Titans the vast majority of the game, took a Tenn 55 yard field goal with 1:48 left for the win, this is not a team to sleep on, they have some legit players on that offense.
Feels weird to see other fans more threatened by our offense than our defense. 2020 be cray!
I agree. Vikings have always given us a hard time. That game in the snow was pretty epic regardless if we won or not. Vikings have similar play style and our games are usually nail biters.
They have, but Russ is like 6-0 against them and Pete has only lost to the Vikings once in his career, back in the late 90s as head coach of the Patriots. They seem to have the Vikings number.
Considering we're 4-0, I hope they aren't looking ahead to the bye week, definitely a possible trap game
I definitely think it's a massive help that it's a primetime game though, nobody wants to be embarrassed on national TV.
