It's more than just production, after all anyone can technically rack up 100 or 200 yds in a game and some TD's, it's the WAY he does it. The way he runs routes is top notch, but the way he CATCHES the ball, he shows such a freaky and uncanny way of turning and adjusting to the ball from any position. It's truly different from anyone.
Like against Houston that back shoulder catch, how he ran with the defender and in a flash, he just switched his whole body at the very last second, turning his entire torso to catch that ball, it was like he was the FLASH. Impossible to defend, because the DB had zero clue the ball was coming until .01 seconds before the catch. like time slowed down for him. and this was only one catch. He had at least 2 more freaky catches like that vs TN.
What made Randy Moss "Randy Moss" was his timing and instinct. he wasn't the first or last WR to be tall. He wasn't the first or last WR to be fast. But his instinctive talent to jump at that ball at the precise moment to always catch it over any defender, utilizing his physical skills is what made him unstoppable. and the key was it was natural, it was ingrained talent, which he showed from the start. I'm not saying JJ is the same player or same style, i'm just saying JJ has a natural ingrained talent as well, that other players don't. OBJ is another one of those freaky talents who does things that others can't. What's exciting about JJ is this is only his first months of NFL games in his life. He's only going to get better through experience and training.
I dog on Spielman a lot, but he deserves all credit with this. There were a lot of WRs on the board when we were up, and using the pick to draft the replacement of who u traded away, historically fails in the NFL, but JJ is a home run. (It also feels good since Aaron Rodgers revealed in the Spring that Justin Jefferson was the WR he was praying they'd take when they took QB Jordan Love instead!)
Again this takes nothing away from Thielen or anyone else we've had the past 20 years, but JJ is looking like someone truly special and unique. Only red flag appears to be his elite level of cockiness, which isn't a dealbreaker, but could lead to some potential problems with personal fouls, contract, etc. But on-field performance?
I predict within 2-3 seasons, Justin Jefferson will be regarded as a Top 3 WR in the entire NFL.
