Both teams look to avoid that dreaded 0-2 start. We know how we feel about last week's game and how much this first win is needed, but, let's see what some of the Colts fans are saying about the upcoming matchup against our Vikes!

Colts always lose the first game of the season which is usually against a division rival, regardless of how good/bad that team was. Reich never starts out hot or end the season well, but the team seems to pick up around game 2/3 until week 11 or so...
The defense will be way more inspired and Rivers will probably only have one cruddy Interception instead of two. This team has talent, but they also have some crappy habits that they have to improve if they want a chance in the playoffs
Taylor will have an 100 yard rushing performance and 50+ receiving yards.
For the most part, Colts fans seem pretty level-headed, somewhat down, and, overall, a lot like Vikings fans. Cautiously optimistic at best?
Anyway, thoughts on their thoughts!? As always,

I had us going 0-2 but finishing 9-7.
Keep your head up guys no matter what,

The Vikings defense was asleep against the Packers, but then again it was a division game against Aaron Rodgers. If the Jags were able to disrupt us with a meager pass rush, I wonder what will happen against one of the best ones in the league?
We’ve got to get angry and not lay over like we did. And for the love of all things holy we need to just give up on zone defense. Otherwise Cousins will probably throw a perfect game with 0 incompletions and 4 touchdowns. We might be setting a record for how many pass completions are allowed by a defense... it’s that bad...

Cousins is another accurate QB and with Cook it probably won’t go well. Hopefully this team plans better than they did against the Jags.
Im expecting we'll get after Cousins. He's not near as mobile as Minshew and I don't think we'll see as much of the moving pocket stuff. People are complaining but we had 3 sacks on Minshew in a game where we supposedly didn't pressure much.
It could go either way but Cousins is the better QB so the Vikings will have the edge.
This team lost their first game last season and won 3 of 4 after. I'm not worried. They'll take care of business against the Vikings.
Vikings 28-20, Colts 0-2.
I was shocked at how inconsistent we were against the run and how soft we played against the pass. The question in my mind is; are those things correctable?
No reason to believe the Colts can’t play better and win.

Everything equal the Jags played pretty well. Our secondary looks lost.
Rivers hasn’t been good against Vikings defense historically. It was the Chargers only blowout loss last year.
Given that passing efficiency (excluding 2 ugly turnovers) was only bright spot yesterday, I don’t have high expectations vs Vikings. But maybe we can fix the run game and the entire defense this week.

Especially distressing was the 2007 game in which Adrian Peterson set the single game rushing yardage record, only 4 yards shy of 300!
Like I said earlier, let’s make sure our strengths remain strengths. OL got beat at critical junctures, DL got pushed around and our veteran QB made critical mistakes. 6 YPC, did I read that right for Jags and 19/20 for Minshew?

Yes you read that correctly. Allow any QB to have that kind of % and we'll lose every time.
I'm calling out Braden Smith this week. He was consistently being pushed around and needs to be a lot better. One has to think the most of the starting line was playing injured with how bad we were. Run blocking and pass protection was not on par with the high expectations. I re-watched parts of the game this morning, and what I noticed most was that there was a Jags defender in the backfield on nearly every snap. It disrupted River's timing and then forced him into costly mistakes.
The line better come out next week hungry and frankly ticked off. They know they can be better than this.

Vikings 41 - Colts 17...... and it won't be that close....

Vikings defense was embarrassed allowing 522 yards to the Packers, so they will be motivated. I don't have faith in Taylor yet.

Colts need to run the ball and control the clock. Keep our crappy defense off the field. That being said I see us losing by at least two TDs.

I see the Vikings controlling the clock with Cook for a large portion of the game, and Cousins doing what Minshew did yesterday in the pass game. The Vikings defense isn't as good as last year, but it won't matter without Mack.

This is why the Jags game was so important. Vikings are a much better and deeper team.

Originally I had us winning against the Jags and losing to the Vikings. I think we find a way to pull this one out now. Rivers wasn't why we lost. Our defense allowing 19-20 completions is still mind boggling and Mack getting injured didn't help was 2 major reasons why we lost. What is up with Hilton dropping balls too?? Taylor and Hines will be prepared to carry the load next Sunday and I am sure our defense will make adjustments. The Vikings defense looked worse than ours yesterday in reality. Rivers should throw for a lot of yards again.
Colts win 30-27 but I am still glass half full, they know falling to 0-2 is a hole and teams that fall to 0-2 lifetime make the playoffs only 20% of the time. Last season with JB we even won game 2 at Tennessee to get to 1-1.

We'll play better but lose again.... 0-2. I think Phil Rivers is out of sync and hurrying his play. Defensively, they are going to exploit Xavier Rhodes all day. It is going to be ugly. As for Reich and Sirianni, they better get their plans to face a very difficult defense. This quick slant stuff is only going to get your WR killed. Bottomline: If Reich is an RPO genius, he will be a SUPER genius to do it with a lame QB. Only saving grace is if bring in a real FB to block and block.
Note to Chris Ballard: Your secondary sucks.... hope they prove us wrong.

I think the Vikes have a much better defense than the Jags. Phillip will throw another 2-3 ints, will probably throw double digit ints this season.
30-17 Vikes

I imagine the team's confidence is a bit shaken after the Jags game.
Everything points to the Vikings winning this one, unfortunately. We are gonna need every unit to improve this week to have a chance.

Offense plays average. Rivers throws another int. Taylor stays under 100.

I'll go 21-10 Colts. I think we lean heavy on Taylor (100+ yards rushing). I think the defense bounces back. Also I say this interesting stat about Reich coached teams:
I think we will win on Sunday and overall I think we will keep progressing offensively more and more as the season moves along. Especially if we stay away from having this guy throw 46 attempts. Keep his attempts around 30ish or less and keep the ground game moving. I like some of the things i saw from Taylor. We have an explosive group. Defensively speaking i think weve got the right guys on the D line. Im expecting we will get after Cousins this Sunday. Only real worries i have are in the secondary. I will see what adjustments we make to help me change my mind.
NFL Network says Rivers is 0-5 against Zimmer defenses.
And the Vikings haven't won in Indy since Moses was receiving the Ten Commandments.......
Philip Rivers is 1-3 vs. the Vikings and all 3 loses have been by 17+ points. I expect the Viking pass rush to frustrate an immobile Rivers and force him into making mistakes. I don’t see the Colts zone defense giving Cousins much problem. Take the Vikings plus the points...unfortunately.
