Folks- Long time "VU/Purple Thoughts" guy finally here. Finally found the non-news forum! So glad to see everyone.
So from what I saw yesterday, I believe with #99 on IR and #91 banged up, along with those inexperienced corners, we are in for a long season of watching the best LB combo and best Safety combo run around all day like chickens without heads and trying to make plays. Our defense features such a drastic difference between the DL and the CBs and the other 5 guys. Three more games of this and I believe 3 of those guys (Barr, Smith, Harris)just become trade bait. Which I hate btw, but like, I'm just keeping it real.
I also don't understand why you run the ball down the field into the end zone, and then abandon that game plan. I think management and the fans need to wake up and realize that when Bisi Johnson is your number 2 WR, you can keep 10 of them on your roster and you will get the same result. We simply don't have the OLine or personnel to feature a pass-heavy offense.
The other issue which infuriates me and scares me (and I'm a Mike and Rick guy at heart), is that we'll get draft picks and then swing and miss. We simply have a difficult time identifying talent pre-draft at WR, CB, and OL. It's too early to pass judgment on Jefferson. He was only targeted like 3x and made a couple catches so I believe he's already better than Treadwell or Troy.
But like, we take Jeff Gladney in the first round. And not surprisingly (see Hughes, '18/'19Rhodes, Waynes, Chris Cook, and the list goes on and on) he wasn't good enough to beat out any incumbent OR the third round pick, and didn't see the field until the third quarter. Meanwhile Jaire Alexander is on the other sideline making Green Bay's first round 2018 selection look MARGINALLY better than our 30th 2018 selection in Mike Hughes.
I'm not sure what to even think for at least two more games, but fellas this smells like 5-11.
