No NFL QB was going to be slinging it all over the field that day. I agree Wilson doesn't have anything more to prove. I included his numbers to illustrate my reasoning that the brutal cold wasn't just an excuse for Teddy's lack of production in his only playoff start. It was a reason. If Russell Wilson was lighting it up all game and giving Teddy a clinic on how to play in cold weather, that would've been one thing. For example, there was a deep ball I'm convinced Wilson normally would've gotten the TD on but the weather absolutely murdered his pass attempt.





Haha well Rudy's YAC that play was 15 yards at most. I just don't get the thought process here. 'Hey our TE broke a tackle and picked up some more yards ... god Teddy is awful.' Things that happen in a 15 below game aren't always going to be pretty. If a different QB engineered that exact same drive but with Walsh making the FG at the end, people would have pointed to that drive as an example of a QB "willing" his team to a playoff win.

If we injected the Saints FO with truth serum, they would want Brees to retire now so they could move on with Teddy and Hill. It always gets dicey at the end of an iconic player’s career... As we saw with Favre, Tomlinson, etc. and currently with Brees, Rivers, Roethlisberger, Rodgers, and Brady. They know Brees is running on empty and his current talent level won’t get them to the Super Bowl again.

Because of Drew Brees' unique contract situation ($21m penalty in 2020 whether he plays or not), and the expected interest from multiple teams, I think the Saints believe that they won't be able to afford Bridgewater (they don't want to have $40-$50m earmarked for the QB position) and are planning on life without him in the form of Taysom Hill (Taysom could be retained with a 1st round tender and right to match).

As for Teddy I predict the Chargers or Patriots. With Tom Brady more than likely moving to a new team, the most common QB scenario I hear from fans and media for his replacement is Teddy Bridgewater. I agree with that idea, as he would be their best option for 2020 by a mile. The Chargers have plenty of cap space and the #6 (?) pick. why waste that on an unproven rookie when u can use that on another position and sign Teddy? Their roster is way better than their record and as Peter King stated today, that the org and Chargers fans are anxious for someone new, like a Teddy Bridgewater. Meanwhile the fans and media of Chicago are out of control in their desire to have Teddy, and teams like Bruce Arian's Bucs make a TON of sense for Teddy on top of taking him away from their division rival Saints. (2 birds...)

considering the interest draw for Garropolo and Osweiler in recent years and the big contracts they received, on top of everything i just mentioned says to me that Teddy is finally going to get that big contract he's been working his whole career for in 2020. And where he ends up is also very likely going to be a winner or a contender! I couldn't be happier for him!

They want Hill for 2021 per reports, which would mean Brees is back in 2020 and they can't afford Teddy. I don't know if I buy the report though. If Hill was so promising a prospect, why did they spend so much for Teddy? If it is a thing where he took big strides this year, why didnt he take over for Brees when he went down instead of TB?

And to expand on why I think he is the perfect choice for the Pats.  Having a HOF GOAT leave your team is a significant and specific deal.  it is NOT business as usual.  For starters I don't think there's one fan or employee of the Patriots org who is expecting or would accept the Patriots blowing the team up and starting from scratch without Brady.  Belichek is going to want to keep the train moving and moving fast and is not going to announce to the world that the Patriots are nothing without Brady so i'm going to retire or rebuild the team from scratch.  Nah-ah.  yet who do u get? 

--Phillip Rivers?  he would be in the same role as Brady, a veteran QB expected to win the SB, or you've wasted everyone's time and just should've kept Brady.  Rivers is a lesser version.  You're replacing your classic Corvette with a dinged up Trans-Am.  If you're going to replace the Corvette get something new and modern right? 

--A healthy Cam Newton isn't old, but he isn't much of a system guy.  Cam wins in Cam ways and you sort of build your offense around him, not the other way round.  I cannot picture the Patriots bringing in that kind of player.

--A rookie.  Is Bill Belichek really going to find the future of this franchise in the bottom of the 1st round?  Will his veteran squad still be viable in a few years when this kid might possibly be good?  Unless Joe Burrow or Tua gets arrested the day before the draft for killing their pregnant girlfriends, they will not be available when the Pats pick.  Trade up?  What capitol would they possibly have that one of these teams would trade with the Pats?  exactly , nothing.  There is no way Bill Belichek is going to roll the dice on a 2nd round graded QB talent, with the prospect of Tom Brady leading the Chargers, Colts, or Broncos to the AFC championship next season.

--Winston/Mariota.  Too many red flags for performance or character issues, far too much risk, and don't fit the Patriots style football-wise.

Enter the Bridgewater... With Teddy you have a guy who has already learned and excelled in multiple systems in his young career, he has a reputation for being a very smart QB who will be able to learn Josh's offense seamlessly, is incredibly beloved and popular from this past teams in MN and NO, has extremely high character marks from all his past coaches which BB will be able to hear directly from Zimmer and Payton, can play at a high level on the road and in cold weather and in high pressure situations or games.  and overall has the leadership skills and demeanor to carry a large franchise without coming off conceited or arrogant.  And here's the biggest reason why Teddy would be perfect for the Patriots:  expectations.  

Unlike most of the veteran free agents, the acquisition of Teddy would not be viewed as a failure if they don't win the SB or come close in his first year.  Teddy is not coming to resuscitate or rescue an underachieving or failing franchise (CHI).  He is a young guy who only played 2 full seasons and is technically recovering from a catastrophic knee injury.  He's like a rookie with big-time NFL experience, he's like a veteran with nothing but the future to look forward to.  He's unlike anyone else in the current free agency class.  and because of the level of expectations he brings, Teddy is a win-win.  With that #1 defense, coaching staff in place, and Teddy's floor, there is no way the Patriots get driven in to the ground with TB5 at the helm.  No friggin' way, maybe 9-7 at the absolute worst.  And if that happened, no one will sweat because no one expects him to be Tom Brady, yet they can easily go 11-5 and win the AFC East and people will be dancing in the streets looking forward to what tomorrow will bring.  And if they do anything else above that, Bill Belichek looks like a genius, and the seamless transition the Saints could've had, will happen in New England.

and then there's just the eyeball test.  Can't you just picture Teddy working with Belichek?  Is there any scenario where you imagine hearing about training camp issues with Teddy and the Head Coach, or Teddy changing plays against McDaniels, or Teddy complaining about handing the ball off to Michel too much?  Or do you picture Julian Edelman complaining about what a jerk Teddy is.  Chemistry-wise there's no one better either.
