And that' not to say that TB or Sam won't come through....there just ought to be a more considerate fall back plan than Keenum, because given the history they will need it.
As far as an early draft pick, I don't love it unless it's someone who is ready. If we're really in win-now mode, with this great defense, I'd rather go the veteran route if Teddy and/or Sam aren't enough. Basically, it doesn't make sense to say we have a window with this defense, but then suggest drafting/developing someone. Either we have time for that or we don't.
I'm not advocating them drafting and developing a guy because they haven't shown any aptitude for that whatsoever for nearly any position on offense since Zimmer has been here.
Its absolutely irresponsible, to me, to be banking the future on two injured knees that are non-contact injury.
I'm not fully in the move on boat yet....but if they do I want them to play the young guy right away. If that's Sloter or a draft pick I don't care that much. Just pull the trigger.
It's a conservative pattern that is created in part by having such a good defense...but if that D is not phenomenal, a game manager at QB isn't likely to get you a Lombardi.
I know you know all this...just spressing myself.
