Change the Washington name?

The Difference between the Houston oilers name change and the Washington Redskins name change is the amount of time each had their names..  The Redskins 87 years to the Oilers half that time or even less..  6 generations have been Redskins fans compared to how many for the Oilers?  The longer something has been around the harder it is to accept and bring about change.

 I didn't say the Vikings name needed to be changed, I was using the Vikings as an example as how a name change would effect a Vikings fan, because if I started naming Redskins traditions they wont mean anything to a person who was not a fan of the team... By using the Vikings as an example you can better understand all that will be lost if your team had to name change..

  I'm actually ok with changing the Redskins name, they haven't been the Washington Redskins to me since Jack Kent Cook died and good ole Dan took over, but there was always hope that things could get better and return to former glories.. Not anymore.. 

 I was never offended or felt belittled by the Name Washington Redskins or by their logo, This could be attributed to me only being 1/2 ,  and I can understand how some could be offended by it..  Me personally I hate being told what should be offensive to me or not

  I most likely will not be a fan of the New Redskins team once the name and logo are announced, I don't like 90% of the players anyway and they have had a loosing culture for over 20 years now, so this would be the perfect time to cut ties after 38 years of being a Redskin fan and if you read the Redskins forums or listen to the local sports talk radio in this area, most of the die hard Redskins fans feel the same way..  Maybe an influx of new Vikings fans are on the way 


   Hmmm I seem to remember a guy once auctioned his Bengals or Browns fandom on Ebay, The auction winner got to name the team he had to be a new fan of.  I might can try that haha  Please oh Please not the Cowboys
