Some of these records I only could find before the 2019 season. It wouldn't make a huge difference some like Rivers and Ryans would be worse. Yes a few won the Super Bowl like Eli but can Cousins find lightning in a bottle like that get hot and win it all perhaps. Why does the media only criticize Cousins and not someone like Rivers. Rivers also made the playoffs 6 out of 16 years with top notch talent some years as weapons and Ryan also.

Is Kirk being fair to us? 5 yrs $150mil fully gtd (for all practical purposes)

In no other shape, form, or fashion am I defending Kirk. That contract is just ridiculous. I only wonder why he seems to be the only one the national media brings up about his record. After seeing so many others have bad records was rather shocking. Cousins is greedy why steal so much money from us like that. He is a good QB though not elite but good!

Barr is making the 4th most on the team at around 13 million btw. How you can possibly delude yourself into thinking that is the problem versus the guy making 16% of the cap is amazing.

Hardly irrelevant. Care to look at how his contract is structured? That 10 mill hit will hit and in a big way if they keep him or not. Robbing Peter to pay Paul has never worked.

It isn't about other money he receives, it is about that 10 million pushed down the line impacting contracts given out this year just as much as if it still counted against the cap this year.

You can get caught up in the semantics if you want, but all I care about is how the salary impacts the team, and Cousins' impact is 31 million. Not on the field of course, just on the roster.

All i know is we better have a legit young qb prospect on this team either next offseason or the one after because we can’t continue to pay the kind of money we are paying Kirk to have the kind of qb he is.

They have already said it wont climb as much as expected. It didn't in 2019 either. That isn't the point. Just so you know it will be a gain of 11 million from 2019. So there goes any gain.

Mahomes will set a new record with the kind of guaranteed money and overall money he will be making, but guess what? He will be worth every damn penny being the best qb in the league. And Watson will make a ton and will be close to earning what he makes. Dak? Well dak is another cousins. Can put up good numbers but in games where he needs to carry the team by himself he rarely does it. And when the going gets tough he usually struggles. Beats up on all the lower half defenses. Trust me I live in Texas we get every cowboys game every week as well as Houston games. Watson is far more earning of a larger contract the dak is. Problem for Watson is that their management is one of the worst in the league and is crippling the team over the last couple years with future rosters.

and no one is saying kirk is in their league. Right now he's 5th in terms of average qb salary and will fall further down the list when those guys sign. He's getting market value for the qb that he is. If you want to argue that qbs are overpaid have at it but Kirk's contract isn't out of whack when you see what other qbs are getting and will get
