The picks are in and we now know exactly where NFL teams value each player that was available to be drafted. Time to put your money where your mouth is.
Knowing that, we now have the opportunity to prove we are smarter than Rick when it comes to drafting. We will have the benefit of hindsight and knowing exactly where players went , but that is only fair considering this is his job and he is paid millions to do it, while we do this in our spare time.
Here are the rules:
#1 You can make trades, but it has to be for a pick or within 2 spots of a pick that was actually traded and it has to be for similar value. Here is a decent source for what the picks actually went for:
www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/nfl-draft-2020-live-trade-details-day-3/lv54elmbd8xm1lnkoal477pom
#2 The baseline for the Vikings draft will be the picks they had going into Day 1. Any trade downs you will have to do yourself.
#3 Try to include who you think will contribute day 1.
That is it. I will start with my re-draft:
#22 Justin Jefferson WR
#25 Jordan Love/Isiah Wilson T - I am on the fence about this one, because I like Love, but I also like Rodgers and Packer fans being upset. The Packers taking Love instead of a skill position also helps us in 2020 and probably 2021.
#58 Fulton CB
#74 (Trade #89 and 2021 3rd round pick) Jordan Elliot DT
#105 Tyre Phillips G
#132 Wonnum DE
#196 (Trade everything I have left, I don't care about 6th and 7th rounders) Peoples-Jones WR
There you go. Still need safety depth, but I don't think we got anything in the draft that we couldn't find in UDFAs. I probably made a mistake or two in there so feel free to rip away.
Bolded are either day 1 starters or guys who will play a significant role in their first season.
Edited: I am going all in on the Love pick, even though the Packers probably end up getting a player that helps them this season. We need a QBOTF more than we need a tackle of the future, and I don't actually like Wilson all that much as a LT.
