You absolutely do not "stick with Keenum" if Sam is healthy. You're joking right? You're so jacked for Teddy-boy and such a #1 Proven Sam-hater that now you think Casey Keenum is better than Sam? As I said, the only way Sam doesnt return is if Teddy slips in and plays balls to the walls, and shows he can throw a long pass that people can catch. We're a deep passing team now, and Teddy has never shown that he be a consistent deep passer.

I don't hate Sam. I just never bought into the idea that he was a long-term solution. Good thing too, because I saved myself some serious disappointment.

I would absolutely stick with Case if we continue to win with him. If he continues to improve, does his part to help win games, finds consistency with the starters, etc. - why go back to Sam? What has he proven/shown to deserve such confidence? If we're in the hunt, it has zero to do with Sam. You stick with Case.

Amazing what having a good team around you can do. Teams Bradford has been on were just bad or rebuilding. No reflection on the QB. Teddy's numbers look good because of the superior defense the Vikings have. Just not making mistakes and having AP for a year can do wonders for your record.

Bradford was handed Teddy's team, that had many talking "deep playoff run" ... and went 7-8. Let's not forget that. He had a "superior defense" as well. The team started out 5-0 and he still couldn't manage a winning record let alone a playoff berth. But yes, he's super duper better than Teddy and Case. All this proof right here.

The O-line was bad in 2015 and incredibly bad in 2016. It's impossible to say how Teddy would have done with that O-line, but I imagine he'd be throwing lots of short passes like Bradford did.

It has everything to do with Sam if we're in the hunt. You don't go to the playoffs with Case for the same reason you don't go to the playoffs with Teddy if you can possibly avoid doing so. Neither are playoff caliber QBs. Both are high quality backups. Sam is the only one of the 3 who has a chance of winning multiple playoff games, because he's our only starter quality QB. If he's healthy. Lets just sit back and watch how quickly the expensive placebo treatments he's getting work before writing Sam off!

Its not difficult to predict Teddy's long ball performance in any year. Based in his overall performance as a pro it would be pretty putrid.

However if you cherry pick and only look at the one nice longer ball he threw in the 2016 preseason, you would say he was a great long ball threat. *hammer*

Under Pat Shurmur and a more pure version of the West Coast offense, Bradford’s Yards Per Attempt sunk to 6.9 over the final nine games of the year. He continued to be accurate on short and deep passes, but the deep balls came fewer and farther between.

The statistic you will see below called ADOT stands for Average Depth of Target. Bradford ranked 33rd among starting quarterbacks in how far his passes traveled through the air. The sheer volume of short passes helped boost Bradford to the top of the accuracy list.

Bradford was by far No. 1 in the NFL in percentage of throws that traveled five yards or less at 62% of throws. Average in the NFL is 47%.

More than half (52%) of Bradford’s total 3,877 yards were on Yards After Catch by Vikings receivers/tight ends/running backs, which ranked fourth behind Alex Smith, Jared Goff and Matthew Stafford.

In fact, Pro Football Focus (PFF) found him to be the league’s most accurate passer in 2015 with an "accuracy percentage" of 79.3.

PFF’s unique accuracy percentage is different than traditional completion percentage. It counts dropped passes as accurate attempts and excludes throwaways, spikes, passes batted at the line and released while being hit. As a result, accuracy percentage is typically much higher than completion percentage.

When analyzing quarterbacks by completion percentage, Bridgewater posted the NFL’s ninth best rate at 65.3 percent — almost a full percentage point higher than his rookie rate. His accuracy is more a result of his safe style of play than it is a laser-sharp arm. This is evidenced by his average of 7.23 yards per attempt, which ranked 17th in the league.

So, they both had horrible OLs and played it safe throwing short passes a ton to survive. Coincidentally, they both ranked at the top for accuracy/completion %. Who is surprised?! But one gets a ton of credit for doing so, and one get criticized for doing so. Makes sense, huh? Hopefully, for the LAST TIME, Teddy and Sam are more alike than they are different. HOWEVER, if healthy and all things equal, one has more upside. Give me that guy. I want the one who has more wins and helped lead his team to the playoffs - not the other one who was handed a playoff team and managed a losing season after his 4-0 start. Alright, so I've mostly stayed out of this "Teddy vs Sammy" debate for quite awhile, but in the past few months I keep seeing this comparison that "Ponder = Bridgewater". Sure, Teddy's 2015 season wasn't as good as I was hoping it would be, but it's not like he was some sort of below-average QB.

Have a look at this:

Teddy is an excellent short range passer and is solid at intermediate passes, but as it's been stated several times he does have poor deep ball accuracy. But he's not Ponder 2.0 and I think the raw stats and performance ratings make that clear.

Everything's still up in the air with his injury though. There's no guarantees he'll be back to his old self and he has a serious amount of rust to knock off. It's impossible to say how well he can perform until he gets into a real game and gets back into the swing of things.

I'm also not a fan of the "no playoff wins, he sucks" meme. In regards to Bradford, it's usually been health or the supporting cast. What I'm trying to state is that Bradford has the ability and talent to bring a team to the playoffs. Just because he hasn't ever made the playoffs does not mean is a bad QB performance-wise. If Bradford is healthy he should be the QB, but it's anyone's guess whether he'll be healthy at any point in 2017.

Would I give Bradford a long term deal and make him the franchise QB? No. But he's not some terrible passer who should be immediately cut from the roster.

Do not know if Bradford will every be healthy again over an intermediate term. Bradford is our best bet if healthy and if not we may see if Teddy is healthy what we have. Keenum has proven to be a great backup, but do not know if he is the QB to lead the Vikings to the next level.(I doubt it, but those QB's are hard to find).

So, when did we become a deep passing team? When Keenum came in and has been throwing more deep balls than all but one other QB in the league? Is that what you're talking about? Because it most certainly can't be "life after Teddy" as a whole. But, ya know, nice try and stuff.

Um its because of both Keenum and Bradford. Bradford started the trend in Game 1, remember? Keenum has continued it. Prolly there's a guy named Shurmur behind it.

Again ... excuse me, what? What do you mean you don't go to the playoffs with Case or Teddy? Who do you think got you there?! IF we make the playoffs this season, it will likely have more to do with Keenum than it does any other QB on the roster. That leaves one quarterback in this scenario who has never helped lead a/this team to the playoffs. Clue: that's the one you're suggesting is the playoff caliber QB. Makes sense... *crazy*

Who do I think got us there? Well so far nobody has got us anywhere. If Keenum gets us to the playoffs that would be great, but that doesn't mean he should be our playoff QB if Sam is healthy.

Case Keenum is not likely to get us any farther than Teddy Bridgewater did in the playoffs, and well, neither is Teddy. Here's the thing: Playoffs aint the regular season. You have to bring your A game and your A QB to the playoffs. We've seen what happens when you waltz out a Webb or a Bridgewater. Sam has thrown as many TD passes in his last 3 games as Teddy has in his last 11, and that includes Teddy's 4 TD game.

Thats an awfully stark contrast. It took Teddy 11 games to do what Sam has done in 3. And if not for that 4 TD game it probably would been 14 games or so.

And I think its already been mentioned, but Teddy didnt lead us to the playoffs any more than Ponder did. He just stayed out of the way while "leading" us to 14 passing TDs, lol, and zero in the playoffs. Sam has almost 2/3 that total in his last 3 games! Now if Casey wins out the season maybe he deserves a shot in the playoffs, but its not likely to end well. He's bound to come back to his average, which is just that, average. The playoffs are a long way off, and in case youre a new fan we usually don't get there.

Again, if Keenum continues to help win games ... it should be his team. He would have earned it. He would deserve that shot in the playoffs to show what he can do. If his play deteriorates, then maybe a healthy Teddy gets out there. Big if. As of now, Keenum has exceeded expectations and he has a great attitude, work ethic, passion for the game, is a leader, etc. There's no reason to take the job away from him if he continues to help win games. You want Keenum to be the starter and Sam out of the picture because thats the only way Teddy might be next in line, and you know as well as anyone that Keenum is not likely to maintain the above average roll he's on. Then, in goes your boy Teddy to the rescue! Good thinking.

Its not going to work and it shouldn't because Sam is better than either of them, but good thinking.

If Bradford is not ready to go, we have to see what Bridgewater has. We have 3 QB's, none signed beyond this year(Teddy's contract may toll, but expect that to be challenged if he plays at all). Vikings have to know what they need in the offseason, remember we have an elite or close to elite defense, you do not want to be wasting the best years of this defense with a very bad offense.
