I completely agree with one of the other posters that this is the best off-season we have had in a long time, given our current cap situation and need to get younger. We have a very strong new core and the clearing cap space to resign upcoming core contracts
Good Moves:
1. Moving on from aging veterans (Joseph & Rhodes)
I love Griffen but we are preparing for 2022.
2. Clearing cap, we were around 10 million over before start of year and are around 20 million under as I’m writing
3. We retained our kicking game, pro bowl fullback, top back up linebacker and top off season priority in Anthony Harris, swing tackle
4. We decided that Cousins is our guy and this offense is here to stay
5. Signing the Juggernaut
6. Not signing or restructuring contracts of any of the veterans that would equate to poor term value
Not good but not bad:
5. Diggs Trade (the good) we moved on from a disgruntled player and received more than fair draft capital. (The bad) young, fit the offense perfect, great value based salary and was a fan favorite.
Bad moves:
6. Cutting Kline for 1.5 in cap relief (maybe concussion issues)?? Letting Alexander walk for a 4 million dollar contract??
If we nail the draft this will be a reload
If miss it’s going to be a mini rebuild
Looking forward to:
our new core of players Cousins, O’Neil, Bradberry, Smith, Cook, Hunter, Barr, Kendricks, Pierce and maybe one of the 3 young DBs
The development of Hill, Boyd, Hughes, Sumia, Udo (think he might surprise), Watts and can Johnson, Smith, Bradberry, Odenigbo take a step!!! SKOL
Next year or even this season I can see us moving on from Reiff and one of
Rudolph or Smith
