A World Without Cousins-Should have drafted Love

Understanding that cousins is good but not great and the fact his contract hurts our cap a lot is something else that others think about. Being afraid to swing in the draft for a great qb shouldn’t be a worry. Knowing Kirk can’t propel the team like an elite qb through the playoffs is another thing. If we are happy with hovering around .500 or getting into the playoffs and losing every other year is fine for some fans and they are content with that, but I as well as others see the situation as what it is. And with Kirk here that is what this team will continue to be. I want to see this team win a sb sooner than later and as long as we keep chugging him out as the starter every year we will be farther from that sb than we always have. I know and understand most qbs in the draft are not likely to pan out, but some of them do big time and it’s those ones who are always in the sb hunt.

Honestly I’m not liking giving any qb more than $25 mil a season unless they are either elite (Wilson, mahomes) or at least a proven consistent winner in playoff games and at pro bowl level most years. If they aren’t in either of those categories I don’t want to ruin the teams cap by signing a guy who isn’t consistently a difference maker. Until we get a qb like that (need to take a swing every year), then I’m probably looking for new qbs every few years because im not dishing out that kind of $ which ruins the rest of the team. Dallas is going to tag dak with the intent to work a new deal out with him. They will end up paying him at least $35 mil or more a season and regret it in the future. I’ve seen around 14 cowboys games the last 2 years (I live in Texas) and dak is the definition of an above average qb, but can’t consistently carry his team week after week like the elite qbs or next tier below elite. With his deal and zeke deal they will be handcuffed for a long time with the talent they can out on that team and they will constantly be a good but not great team that is limited. Does that sound familiar?
