To me Diggs is leaving partially for cap space, but mostly for picks in a draft that has outstanding depth at OL and DL. Not to mention at WR where we can replace him at a fraction of the cost.Maybe they only missed it by one year. Of course even then, the experts all said Trubisky when they should have been saying Mahomes and Watson. I'll believe it when the rookie shows up and produces. Up until that point, it's just a shot in the dark. I like Diggs. I'll take Diggs over a shot in the dark thank you.
(bonus Bears reference for JABF - who has waaay too long of a username)
EDIT: Hey NoresemanSam after thinking about your post, I edited/shortened my user name from JustAnotherBearsFan9 to JABF. Thanks for giving me that idea. It was a good one.
LOL, you're right about the username being too long. On the Bears board they've shortened it to just JABF :-)
You're so right about Trubisky too. I've been an NFL fan for over 55 years now and have come to the point that I hate it when I hear a college kid is a "can't miss" guy. Because they so often are busts. The sports writers and the talking heads on the sports shows seem to know it all pre-draft. Then when these "can't miss" guys are dropping like flies and busting in the NFL "real world" they are mighty quiet about their predictions.
Getting off topic here, but I'll throw it out anyway (it's the dreaded death valley days of the off season and not too much to talk about), have you ever noticed how many of the high priced free agents each year are guys who had been drafted in the mid to late rounds? I've started to notice that in recent years. The majority of them sure were not 1st round picks.
If a franchise is struggling to evaluate draft talent consistently well, it's a killer. The Bears traded away draft picks to move up from the 3rd pick of the draft to the 2nd pick of the draft - to pick Trubisky rather than Mahomes or Watson. Madness. Utter madness. Ryan Pace trades away draft picks too easily... and 2 of the past 3 years we've had only 5 picks in the draft and yet again this year we don't have a 1st round draft pick. Pretty sad to watch.
