No time in the history of the NFL has a Division leader this late into the season (Week 12) been 5 games UNDER 500. This division is plain pathetic. The leader of the division is the Atlanta Falcons who are 4-7 and all 4 wins are divisional wins. In fact very few games have been won by any team outside of their division. Now there is a strong chance that the winner of the division will finish with 5 counted them F I V E or maybe 6 wins.
Now we all recall a few years ago that the Saints had to travel to Seattle for the wild card round to face a Seahawks team with a losing 7-9 record and then ended up losing. Now I know that winning your division is great. But there is something wrong when the said winner of the division can't even crack 500. At that time it sparked some debate about playoff seating if teams with non winning records are getting in while more competitive divisions or some teams with 10 or 11+ wins get snubbed.
So back to this year, can you image the proverbial s*** hitting the fan if a 5/6 win team gets to host a playoff game? Even Tampa Bay with only 2 wins is still in the hunt for the division at 2 games back with 5 to go. This is beyond nuts for a single division to be this bad.
Now it is possible 1 team may finish with a non losing record. But they would have to win 4 of their final 5 games, and based on the records so far that seems like a very tall order.
