On the other side, that man finds talent late in the draft (and unless you show me otherwise, I'm fairly certain his bust rate on high picks is lower than his peers too). It's hard to argue with that since at the end of the day that's his primary and most important job. Admittedly, that's not just the GM. I'm sure coaches have a huge say there, so I have to give Zimmer some props on that one too. My bigger fear in switching GMs is that it will lead to a lot more Treadwells and a lot less Hunters.
That's where we disagree. Drafting is not the most important job he has. It is only one of the jobs he has. Equally important to the others (choice of trades like the Bradford trade and the timing of them, choice of systems and coaching staffs, how much and when and on which position groups to spend in free agency, etc etc)
His main job is to ensure ALL of these pieces blend together to form one cohesive Winning team. And he has failed in this arena. In this arena (IMO the most important job of a GM) he is below average in the NFL, to put it mildly.
