On to 2020... Offseason Thinking

I can see you are a fan who thinks the Vikings will lose every game post like crazy after a loss. Rick, with all his mistakes, still did better than 3/4 of the other GMs. The o line is his biggest failure and needs a major overall for sure. If no massive improvement after next season all the Rick haters will get their wish.

  Nah, just having a bit of fun with a few of the more "fragile" members of our community.  

My philosophy is the NFL is now a passing league. The rules favor it to make the game more exciting. To counter that means to make it more difficult on yourself but not impossible to win a championship. Then you have to have the personnel to perform. Run game, PAP passer, etc. That we actually have. But nothing can happen without the foundation and that’s the O line.
Regardless you have to have at least an offensive line that is at a minimum of average. An average NFL QB can look pretty damn good with protection. A great NFL QB can look horrible or worse get injured with a poor O line. I wouldn’t want to be QB behind our line, would you ? ( Maybe on second thought with the paychecks I would but would have great insurance)
Most GMs go down because of poor HC performance and they go down because of poor QB performance and on and on. But Rick may go down because of poor O line and inability to fix it. It’s the crack in the hull of the longship and it’s sinking.
Like him or not Rick knows football and knows this. The hard part is finding and relying on adequate people. Getting people who are one step away from teenagers and then giving them hundreds of thousands of dollars( when most have had little)and then expecting them to perform like mature adults - Good luck very difficult job no matter how you see things.

Well, of the 4 teams still alive in the playoffs, both the Titans and 49ers are clear run-first teams, and the Packers are also running the football more than they have the past few years. The Chiefs are the only team that is a clear-cut pass-to-win team, so I will be interested to see if they will be able to win it all.

The 49ers are a balanced offensive team that sets up the run very well with the pass. It doesn't try to pound the ball on first and second down and hope for five yards of YAC on third down. They can pound the ball, but the team is designed to create mismatches and use numbers to allow receivers and backs to get out into space. Having a good offensive line makes this much easier.
