I post stats - some positive and some negative. Look around. I've posted plenty of negative things. 2020 is largely a big negative. Who fills up the "Vikings Fans Need To Laugh To Survive" thread? I laugh at this team and myself all the time. The Positives thread? That was something we started several years ago, mostly out of sarcasm and to laugh at ourselves a bit. Some people here take that seriously and get offended. Seriously? It's nuts. But even in a bad season, it's okay to pull out a few building blocks. Yes, this season is a huge disappointment, but, is everything bad? No, so it's okay to point to individual accomplishments and hope they continue moving forward. It's 2020 for Pete's sake! Let us love on Cook, Jefferson, and Kendricks! They're all we got!

As far as negativity versus positivity, Reignman and I have discussed this several times. Boards are ALWAYS more active when things are going badly. That's just how it goes. And that's fine. I get that. People need to voice their frustrations. I fully support that. It's when every. single. thread. turns into the same thing that gets exhausting. We don't need to discuss the firing of Zimmer and Spielman in every thread. Sometimes it's okay just to talk about the rookies, or the OL, or DL, or whatever. Not every thread should turn into fire fire fire. That, too, is bad for business. Just as bad as an echo chamber. Without a few of us, this place is an echo chamber. You know what happens in an echo chamber. Of course I have to do my part to break it up from time to time, but to pretend this board is overrun by positivity to the point of annoyance? Quite the opposite really.

As far as my love for Zimmer, here's the thing, I've been at this for 12+ years, and I don't remember ever advocating for any coach to get fired. Maybe Frazier? I'd have to look back, but I bet I backed him too quite a bit ... at least until the very end. But I never pleaded to fire Green, Tice, Childress, Frazier, and obviously not Zimmer. Zimmer isn't above the team to me. No one is, nor will they ever be. I get it, some of you find it hard to believe, but I actually DO STILL BELIEVE IN ZIMMER. That's why I don't want to fire him. You might disagree, fine. But why question my fanhood all of the time? It just gets old. If you like Spielman, Zimmer, or Cousins, you're not a true fan of the Vikings? Come on now. I'll be sad when he goes, but I'll support the next coach just as much. Remember this in 5-6 years when we're having the same conversation about a different coach, because it'll happen. lol.

I don't see Zimmer as a failure. I don't see Spielman as a failure. I don't see Cousins as a failure. Has the team lived up to expectations since 2018? No, it hasn't. That's fair. But I also consider the whole picture. If Cousins is going to be the guy - and he likely is - just give these three another year or two and see what happens. I think they've earned that much at this point. If they disappoint yet again, it's fair to move on. Again, you disagree. You want change NOW. That's fine, but not everyone thinks this football team is trash. This team has a lot of good young guys, this team is showing a lot of fight, we're getting some of our key players back next season, etc. This isn't 2010-2013; we're okay here! It's just unfortunate we picked THIS year to suck on defense and special teams, because now the offense is finally halfway decent and, for the most part, the NFC sucks. This was NOT the year to decide to disappoint, but, Vikings. No one is surprised, but it still sucks. 

People question my fanhood all of the time. Literally all of the time. Because I don't complain on a daily basis, I don't care enough. I don't care about winning championships. Blah blah blah. I haven't really seen people say you're not a fan. I have, however, seen people ask you why you bother being a fan if you never have one nice thing to say. Like, ever. I think that's the difference. You're looking for championships, as am I. HOWEVER, I also want to enjoy watching the Vikings. If I was miserable watching them, miserable with the players, miserable with the coaches, miserable with the GM, miserable with the owners, etc. -- how is that a hobby? How is that enjoyable? That sounds like something I don't want to participate in, quite frankly. lol. We all "fan" differently, and that's fine. But, yes, I try to look on the bright side, respect the process, and remain optimistic. That's how I "fan". I will NEVER be one to b*tch and moan about everything. I literally hate people like that with a fiery passion. I'm a firm believer, "If you don't like it, well...you have a choice!" Guess what? I don't want to quit the Vikings, so, I look at the bright side and convince myself we're going to be okay if this this and this happens. Anyone who is still a fan of the Vikings is doing that exact same thing, but we just differ on what the this this and this is. 

Why do you think a GM/Coach/QB combo going 8-7-1 and missing the playoffs, 10-6 and winning in the wild card of the playoffs in overtime and losing the next game by 17 points and then going between 6-10 to 9-7 and likely missing the playoffs has earned an extension? .500 ball earns contract extensions for the GM, head coach and quarterback?

I'm still a fan, I just think the Spielman/Zimmer/Cousins journey needs to be over.

Again, understanding the current contracts, roster, salary cap, etc. -- I get giving them another year or two. Blowing it all up right now doesn't make any sense, and it's a disservice to so many on this team to throw in the towel and force a rebuild. We're not the Jets, Jags, etc. We're not that far off, and, as I said, there are plenty of things to be optimistic about. You don't think so? That's fine. But I'm not going to have this debate for the 100th time. No offense to you; I just don't want to spend the time explaining something I've explained dozens of times. 


Just entertainment? That's what you came away with? No. It's far from JUST entertainment for me. Far from that; so far from that (more than I'm willing to admit lol). What I said was that I don't want to be miserable all of the time, so I willingly choose to look at the bright spots. Even in a down year, that is largely disappointing, I'm able to - AND CHOOSE TO - look at the positives. This year, some of those would be Kendricks, Cook, Jefferson, and even the rookie class as a whole. A lot to be excited about moving forward. Keep in mind, I still believe in Zimmer, so...

I don't think supporting my coach and quarterback is a bad look. I genuinely want them to do well, and when they don't, it sucks. No one is more disappointed than I am. I'm not sitting back, like some, waiting to say I told you so; I'd rather them do well and help us win games. Lots of games. But, no, I don't think if I stop watching games, spending on merchandise, and, overall, being optimistic, that it's going to magically make the Vikings better. So, for now, I'm trying not to be miserable, and I'm choosing to be optimistic as I look ahead. Is this really so hard to understand? It shouldn't be. I'll let the Vikings ruin my Sundays, but not my whole world.

But Funky the reason they are where they are is because of all that are in house now it'sall self inflicted. They efed the entire thing up to where they are now. They deserve a kick in the pants and a thanks for nothing on the way out.

They already blew it all up. The core guys have very limited time left 1 to 2 years for most the rest are gone or should be.

Actually they are that far off and have less resources for a quick turnaround. It's not going to happen next year either. 2020 has nothing on 2021. If you think so you're sadly mistaken. The crystal ball is common sense and understanding what's upfront in waiting. In all honesty this team is sunk until 2023. That's just the truth. That's why many of us want change now. Basically they will be in a rebuild for 3 years and then hand it off for another. At least with change it will be geared towards the new hires now and they won't be just starting in 2023.

What you said was you don't care about a SB or the records or being miserable just because they are down or not winning. Losing doesn't make most people happy. Not winning for 20 years for the most part really should have an impact. Being OK with what we have isn't OK.

I've stated many times it's not realistic to win the SB every year but it sure is realistic to contend or be a contender. The fact is we aren't nor have been. That's enough for change in and of itself. NFL players shelf life isn't long and sitting on hands while not winning doesn't help. Knowing players don't want to play or don't like the HC doesn't work without a payoff. The Patriots had the payoff.


Um with this GM and HC I know not to worry about finding the winning formula or combination. That's the point. Zimmers formula will not work and Spielman cant orchestrate a complete roster and will never be able to. That's a Viking fans reality. So hell let's keep it together for a few more years. Nothing ventured nothing gained.
