They can plug most any HB into their system and they'll find running room.

What's with people giving James Conner crap on this thread? Are we forgetting that in 2018 he had 973 yards last season on 215 carries (that's in 12 starts!), good for 4.5 YPC with another 500 yards receiving on top of that? Conner was basically Bell 2.0 in 2018. He's not doing as well in 2019, but when you go from Roethlisberger to Mason Rudolph, teams are going to start focus on stopping the run.

By the way, how's Le'Veon doing in New York behind a crappy O-line?

Right, Pitt didn't nose dive when it lost Bell. They took a nose-dive when their O-line took a collective nose-dive.

Well...yeah, but what games would we have lost but for him? I could've run through the holes the line gave him against Atlanta and Oakland.

He's good and I love watching him run, but he's not some transcendent talent. He's just a good back, in a good fit, with a good line. Had we taken David Montgomery this year we wouldn't even be considering this. Every year a super talented bunch of backs are sitting there to be picked late 2nd or early 3rd.

I don't disagree with you entirely on Cook. But the combination of Cousins and a below-average line makes Cook necessary IMO. If we had a great line, or an average line and a QB that made good decisions quickly I'd have no problem saying goodbye and good luck to Cook, but we don't.

Honestly, you’d have to be insane to give more credit to the line than Cook. The amount of times this year where Cook has been met by an untouched defender at the LOS only to bounce off the tackle or make the guy miss is incredible, not to mention the speed at which he turns the corner on plays that seem to be contained.

That’s not to discredit the line, they have blocked well in the running game and the scheme helps quite a bit as well. But make no mistake, a healthy Dalvin Cook is an elite NFL RB with incredibly rare traits

I didn't mean bigger than Cook, just bigger than they currently receive.

For every hit in the backfield I've also seen him get runs untouched or with guys 7-8 yards downfield walling off for him. Cook is talented but he looks this good because we have improved so much up front. That's true for any back. Ask Joe Mixon or Lev Bell.

I just went from memory, now have looked it up. Average career for all players 3.3 years. Average career for running backs 2.57
