I think blaming the refs is usually a cop out, and definitely was in this game. The refs mistakes hurt us at times today, but we still had the game in our hands and pissed it away.

If the refs HAD called Cook for offensive PI on the field, I would have disagreed but could have at least accepted it as a poor call. However, the league has made it very clear that they are only going to overrule the on the field call when the foul is egregious. They have stuck to that standard all throughout the preseason and early season games..... until this game. Anyone who had a problem with this call has a legitimate gripe

I haven't looked at the replay yet but it could have been egregious. The announcers were fixated on the wrong part of the play, it happened further into the endzone apparently.

There is literally nothing he can do, aside from hoping for an injury, about keeping him as his starter. At this point all he can do is try to make it work.

Probably, but in this context he would have made the first kick making us at least feel confident about this one, making it hurt that much more lol. Plus in that scenario we aren't as pissed off about our billion dollar QB and instead pissed off about how another idiot kicker cost us a game. Then we can complain about Zim playing for a FG instead of going for the dagger. *whistle*

If Kirk continues to throw critical INTs and bucketloads of incompletes and Zimmer takes him to task for it in the postgame pressers, then the conversation will likely progress quickly from Zimmer ripping Cousins to Zimmer being on the hot seat as the losses mount.

Yes, defenses tend to tighten up on the running game in the red zone, and taking advantage of that tendency with a pass is always great when it works. That being said, it's a little surprising and disappointing when you make it to the 8 and your RB who's averaging 8 yards per carry doesn't touch the ball.

As bad as Cousins' decision to jam the ball into a non-opening was, Zimmer's staff bears responsibility for putting the ball and the game in his hands when Cook was the one who got us back into it.
