Just thought it would be nice to send a special spotlight on those who have truly taken that lottery ticket of genetics, coaching, and God given ability and flushed it down the commode in spectacular fashion. I was thinking of calling this the Chris Washburn award, but I'm guessing a lot of you might not recall who he was.
So, without further ado, I present to you a man who frequently was projected as a 1st rounder, went on to blow the Combine in epic proportions, and now finds himself as the annual winner of the Highest Draft Pick Waived in the 2019 Draft Class.
JACHAI POLITE
DL, SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
Seahawks signed DE Jachai Polite to their practice squad.
It's quite the fall from grace for Polite, who was failed to make the Jets' roster after being picked 68th overall in April's draft. The former Florida Gator then went unclaimed on waivers, eventually settling for a role on the Seahawks' practice squad. Polite tested as an anemic 14th-percentile SPARQ athlete at the Combine and that lack of athleticism was evident during his time in East Rutherford.
But wait, there's MORE!
Per a league source, Polite was fined more than $100,000 for turdiness and other issues regarding doing things he shouldn’t have done or not doing things he should have been doing.
It’s not that Polite can’t afford to pay the fines. As the fourth pick in round three, he received a $1.122 million signing bonus from the Jets.
