Zimmer: Vikings will keep throwing deep
On Monday, Zimmer said again the Vikings aren't going to stop throwing down the field; in fact, he said they might need to do it more frequently.
"What I do believe is, we probably need to throw it some more, and we will hit it," Zimmer said. "I do know one thing about Teddy: If it is a problem, he will work extremely hard, whatever his deficiencies are. If he believes that's one of them, then I'm sure he'll work at it. We're going to do it. We're going to continue to practice it. I thought it was important that we took some shots down the field. Even if you don't hit them, that's not necessarily a bad thing. What's the difference between just missing a 50-yard shot or gaining one yard? It's second-and-9 or second-and-10. There is a lot of strategy involved in some of those things that we're doing."

Bridgewater's track record on deep balls in college wasn't one of his strengths, and he's going to have to be more precise with them in the NFL. It seems like he'll keep getting chances to work on them, even if the results aren't there right away.
"Your completion rate on long balls is not real good all the time, but you have to throw them. The defense has to respect that you're going to do that," Zimmer said. "You can get pass interferences, you can get illegal contacts, you can get all kinds of penalties that are big for the offense, as well. We always want to be a team that can be explosive; not just running the ball, but a good play-action team and a team that can throw the ball vertically down the field."
