Its time for another season of VIKINGS football. I'm ready to cheer on the team I liked for 40 yrs now. It all started way back when the VIKINGS were in Super Bowl XI. The name VIKINGS grabbed my attention, and because they were one of the best teams in the NFL. Being in the Super Bowl proved that. And it was their 4th appearance in a Super Bowl. The teams logo was also my favorite. In 1978 started collecting football cards, and learning the history of the team. WOW, what a power house they had, being named the Purple People Eaters. I have a small collection of Vikings items such as many football card team sets, 3 x 5 ft. flag, McFarlane figures, Starting Line Up figures, die cast trucks, mini-helmets, hats, winter coat, jersey's, and plenty of games on dvd ranging from 1974 in Super Bowl VIII to most recent years.
I was watching a game on dvd just last night from 1979, against the Dallas Cowboys. The Vikings lost that game but at half time, the VIKINGS honored Fran Tarkenton with his #10 jersey retirement. I will always cheer on the VIKINGS no matter what the out come will be. I can always look back and watch memorable games from Fran Tarkenton, Tommy Kramer, Archie Manning, all the way through the Bret Favre era and most recently the Adrian Peterson days. GO VIKINGS !!
