No, it would be a sign he is getting better as a HC. An improvement. Times running out for him, even the Wilf's will grow tired of him if he doesnt succeed.

Fair enough. I get the feeling that if Zim falters down the stretch (or goes one and done in the playoffs) the Wilfs might look at doing such a move.

But did you look that up? Going by the traditional SOS, since 2014 Zimmer does in fact have the best record against teams below .500 at 43-6-1 (.870) with the Patriots 2nd at (.848). Even going by the Oracle Bone Diviner-tem, Zimmer has the 2nd best record at 29-7 (.806), just behind the Patriots (.810). He's gotta make up for losing to all those winning teams somewhere haha.

I missed the Jets and Bears in 2014, because the Vikings weren't really a playoff contender that year being 3 games behind with 4 to play.

So yeah, Zim is amazing against sub .500 teams, which blows the theory out of the water that we play down to our competition, which is normally a Viking tradition. But ok, he beats up on .sub .500 teams, how is he against those above .500 teams? The ones we'll have to face in the playoffs? Well I got bad news. He's one of the best when it comes to beating bad teams, but he's one of the worst against the tougher opponents.

When it comes to the Oracle Bone Diviner-tem, Zim is 18th at 15-25-1 (.378) since 2014. For those unfamilar with the Nemesistem it's explained in detail here. In short it goes by what your opponents record was at the time you played them, when it traditionally goes by an opponents end of season record, which is a system that grinds Nemy's gears xD. As far as the traditional method goes, Zim is 12-28-0 (.300) against teams above .500, which is 20th in the league since 2014.

That gets a little worse when December arrives, which is why the Nemesistem can be a little misleading *whistle*

. In December since 2014, Zim is just 2-10 (.167) against teams above .500, with one of those wins coming against the 10-5 Packers in 2015 at Lambeau for the division title, and the other coming at the 7-4 Falcons in 2017. He's 2-10 when it comes to the traditional strength of opponent as well.

Not good when you need to beat 4 consecutive above .500 teams in the playoffs to win one of those shiny Lombardi trophies.

So it's great that he demolishes the teams that we should beat, but he really needs to improve when it comes to those better opponents to elevate himself and the Vikings to that next level of championship caliber. I mean that is the goal right? To win championships? Cousins catches a lot of flack for not being able to beat teams above .500, and rightfully so, but right now Zimmer is the Kirk Cousins of coaches.

There are huge differences in how each Vikings fan defines "competitive"
