Just a reminder of the pre-draft rankings, these are the guys I think are the pure best WR's on my board. Some of them likely won't get much of a chance to prove themselves either because of team fit or the draft capital (or lack thereof) spent on them. The post draft rankings are designed to adjust for that and sort of predict who will have the best years based on the opportunity and chances they will get within their team.
#1 Hakeem Butler
#2 Miles Boykin
#3 A.J. Brown
#4 D.K. Metcalf
#5 Deebo Samuel
#6 N'Keal Harry
#7 Preston Williams
#8 Parris Cambpell
#9 Stanley Morgan Jr
#10 Kelvin Harmon
Post draft Rankings
#1 Hakeem Butler - I'm sticking with Hakeem here because the Cardinals don't have any other WR's with size AND talent and essentially have 3 guys competing for the slot with Fitz, Kirk, and Isabella. I think Butler gets ample opportunity to run away with one of the starting out side positions and thus has the inside track to a big year.
#2 D.K Metcalf - I'm moving DK up to #2 because I really like his ability to go deep and Russell Wilson's ability to extend plays, improvise, and throw a dart down the field to him and the Seahawks aren't exactly loaded with WR talent so they'll need him.
#3 Paris Campbell - The colts by design did a lot of dink and dunk last year getting the ball out of Lucks hands quickly and into his play makers. The fit just couldn't be better as that's exactly Paris Campbell's game at this point in his career and by the way they play half their games on turf in a dome and we've seen how that has helped TY Hilton over his career.
#4 N'Keal Harry - With Josh Gordon and Gronk out of the picture and with the Pats spending a 1st round pick on Harry, he's going to get every chance they can give him to shine with Tom Brady throwing him the ball.
#5 A.J. Brown - I moved Brown down a bit just because I don't see him having a monster year in a Titans offense but if Mariota's healthy this year and he over takes Corey Davis as his favorite target I could be wrong about this one.
#6 Deebo Samuel - Deebo dropped a spot because the 49er's WR group actually looks a bit crowded now with Jalen Hurd also joining this group that has Pettis, Goodwin, etc.
#7 Miles boykin - Boykin takes the biggest drop from my pre-draft rankings as the Ravens showed zero sign of unleashing Jackson in the passing game, instead playing a conservative ground and pound game on offense. Boykin is a big target though so I still like him more than teammate Marquise Brown, whom I'm concerned may struggle like John Brown did once Lamar Jackson became the starting QB.
#8 Kelvin Harmon - This one's a little tricky as the redskins drafted Harmon in the 6th round while also taking Terry Mclaurin in the 3rd. I think the Skins reached for Mclaurin to reunite him with Haskins but given the draft capital he'll probably get first shot at the starting job and more opportunity as teams have a longer leash for highly drafted players. However, Washington doesn't have a lot of other options either so I still think Harmon makes an impact before the years over.
#9 Jalen Hurd - Hurd makes the list now because I had to essentially remove Preston Williams and Stanley Morgan Jr. Those two could still make it in the NFL but for every Thielan, there's probably 50 guys that never get a fair look so it's just too risky for me. Like Deebo this is a surprisingly crowded WR group now but Hurd is talented and the 49er's spending a high 3rd round pick on him means he'll get his chance in what should be a good offense.
#10 Riley Ridley - Like Hurd, Ridley was just outside my pre-draft top 10 rankings so with 2 spots opening up he makes the cut just ahead of Marquise Brown. Brown would be here but I really don't see the fit with Lamar Jackson. I could be wrong about that but John Brown is a similar speedster with a good deep game that just never materialized with Lamar Jackson. Ridley goes to a good offense where Matt Naggy will know how to play to his strengths and use him wisely.
#11-14 - J.J. Arcega Whiteside, Diontae Johnson, Terry Mclaurin, and Andy Isabella all had decent draft capital spent on them and while I'm not high on them as prospects, they'll be given chances to succeed so I think they should be mentioned.
What do you guys think? Who are your risers and fallers?
