Midway through the season, I decided to take another look...
10. Minnesota Vikings – WR Devin Funchess, Michigan: The Vikings are obviously not giving up on Cordarrelle Patterson, but that doesn't mean Minnesota shouldn't target another weapon to help open up the offense for Teddy Bridgewater. Funchess is inconsistent in several areas, but has a very high athletic ceiling for his size and the sky is the limit if he continues to develop.
It goes without saying that this selection is contingent on what happens with Adrian Peterson. It's completely possible that Peterson will return to Minnesota in 2015, but there's also a good chance that the Vikings will want to take a PR stand by getting rid of him.
If the latter scenario occurs, the Vikings would be open to spending another top-10 pick on a blue-chip running back. Major help is needed in the backfield, as Jerick McKinnon is just a change-of-pace option.
For those who don't believe three or four running backs will be chosen in the first round next spring, this class has stud players at the position, so it's going to happen. Besides, Trent Richardson was chosen No. 3 overall a couple of years ago. If Richardson can go third, the more-talented Gurley can be chosen at No. 8.
5. Minnesota Vikings: Brandon Scherff, OT, Iowa
An investment in the offensive line is still the priority, even after QB Teddy Bridgewater was sacked just once in Week 8's overtime win over the Bucs. Scherff is a suitable option, given his ability to play both guard and tackle.
8. Minnesota
Landon Collins - Alabama - SS
The team could go in any of several directions here, Georgia RB Todd Gurley is a rare runner who might be deserving of a top-10 selection. Safefy doesn't seem a critical issue with Harrison Smith playing so well (#2 at the position according to ProFootballFocus.com), but Smith will be a Free Agent in 2016. Adding a top-notch banger like Landon Collins will upgrade the entire defense.
