Was in the middle of doing a deep dive and the internet went out and I lost the post before it was finished so here's a quick look at my TE rankings and maybe I can do more with less.
#1 - T.J. Hockenson - One of my favorite FOOTBALL players in this draft, he has a complete game.
+ Elite blocker
+ Reliable Hands
+ Decent YAC ability
+ High motor - Plays till the whistle blows.
#2 - Irv Smith JR - Irv get's #2 for me because when it comes to TE I really favor all around guys that can do it all and like Hockenson Irv fits the bill. I like him a little more as a receiver than Hockenson but Hockenson's blocking is better. This is more like 1A and 1B as opposed to 1 and 2, it's that close for me.
+ Solid Blocker
+ Refined route runner
+ Strong releases off the line
+ Reliable hands
+ High motor, plays till the whistle blows
#3 Noah Fant - Fant is one of the more athletic pass catchers in this TE class but leaves a lot to be desired in the blocking game. His hands also aren't as reliable as my first two guys and he could use some polish with his techniques.
+ Athletic Ability
+ Good ability to separate
+ Good Rip against tight coverage
+ Solid speed
#4 - Jace Sternburger - Sternburger rounds out the "big 4" for me and in other classes he could easily be #1.
+ Physicality
+ Fluid / smooth route runner
+ Decent YAC guy
+ Acceleration
#5 - Dawson Knox - Here's where we see a bit of a drop in talent but I like Knox in a "he's a poor man's T.J. Hockenson" sort of way. Ole Miss had A.J Brown and D.K. Metcalf at WR so Knox wasn't featured in a big role but when his number was called he was solid.
+ Decent speed and quickness
+ Reliable Hands
+ Sound blocker
Couldn't find a highlight video, if anyone stumbles on one let me know.
Do you guys see it similar or who do you like instead?
