Here is (part of) his original post:

I've created a depth chart that colors the players by draft pick:

So... does anyone else think the Vikings have spent enough draft capital on defense? They don't have a single first round pick on offense starting that was drafted by Minnesota, and they have 5 MN defensive guys drafted in the first round!

And not just that, but 18 defensive players were drafted by the Vikings remain on the roster... and just half, only 9 on offense. The Vikings have a paltry 4 starters on offense that were drafted by them in the first 4 rounds: Dalvin Cook, Kyle Rudolph, Pat Elflein, and Brian O'Neill. That's it!

It's time the Vikings attacked their weaknesses on offense in the upcoming draft. Not only do the Vikings have just one blatant need on defense (DT), but they also have the NFL's best DL coach in Andre Patterson and a great DB developer in Mike Zimmer. Why spend so many high draft picks on DBs when you can develop guys like Anthony Harris and Holton Hill? It would be foolish to spend yet another draft on defense while the offense had so many issues last year that weren't addressed in free agency.

Treadwell should be gone soon too, right? So, 8...

But yeah, I'd like to see a deeper dive into this. Do the Vikings suck at drafting offensive players, or don't we know because they simply don't do it enough? Also, when they did go defense in the first few rounds, was it probably the right choice ... or were there better options there?

I'm too busy with draft stuff!

I did do a retrospective on the 2014 Draft last year, and I was planning to eventually do a 2015 Retrospective, but I could do a Vikings-centric one spanning several years... I've seen other places do this (Daily Norseman at some point). I like it better when I compare the Vikings' haul to other teams'.

Whoops, I changed Richardson to Shamar Stephen, which is why he's a Vikings 7th rounder, but I forgot to change the name.

I started reading the comments but soon my ADD kicked in and I lost focus....

I understand and agree with the thoughts that our D used to SUCK and it took significant draft capital to make it again viable. I also understand that we made legitimate attempts to improve our O, and especially our OL, through both draft and FA. In retrospect, we suck at drafting WR at the top of the draft. Ironically, we're best in the league in acquiring WR in round five or later. *skeptic*

We've made legitimate attempts to improve the O through FA (Cousins, Reiff, Remmers, Boone, Smith, etc.) and while not perfect, some of those have helped. My only beef (really) remains our crazy decision to pick Hughes over Hernandez last April. Sure, one bad decision (especially in the rear view mirror) is hardly an indictment of our entire process; but I'll remain nervous until we see what happens in two weeks.
