So Im guessing this spells the end of Sloter .
THEN WHY SIGN HIM?
If they really loved him so much, why was Trevor Siemian ahead of him on the depth chart for 16 games last year?
If they really love him so much, why sign "one of the NFL's worst backup QBs?"
They gave Kyle Sloter a roster spot because the Vikings feel more comfortable having three QBs than having two plus one on the practice squad. Obviously, since they had him on the practice squad until Sam Bradford was injured in 2016. They were already down to their third QB in Case Keenum. They, by all indications expected nothing more than Keenum than to keep things afloat for Bradford or Bridgewater to be ready-but, you need another QB...hence Kyle Sloter.
As I just stated, the brass obviously don't feel the gifting of a roster spot to Kyle Sloter for two years assures him of anything-because they signed Sean Mannion. A guy who is neither younger, nor significantly older than Sloter. He's not a wise old veteran to be a sounding board for Cousins. He's not a young untested buck. He's a backup NFL QB...who they wanted as much, or more, than Kyle Sloter. This signing is not good news for Kyle Sloter.
