I hate to nitpick, but how was Cousins unproven? He started 57 games before joining the Vikings, and he played pretty similarly to how he did in Washington. 
When I say unproven, I mean he hadn't accomplished anything in WAS, despite having a strong arm and throwing accurate passes. He couldnt beat a winning team i what, 5 years? And did the same thing when he came to MN. I know we just wasted 3 more years, I feel it in my bones. And then the Wilf's will finally fire Ricky boy, and unfortunately, Zimmer will go too.

They had zero QBs under contract going into 2018, and it sounded like they were considering a whole bunch of QBs. I think Spielman specifically said that they wanted the new OC hire to help choose the QBs... so they knew what they were getting into.
So how could they hire a losing QB who simply cant throw the damn ball unless he has 5 minutes to read a defense with a clean pocket. It makes no sense. And this sh*t with having a horrible Oline goes back to the Favre days (and even further then that, all the way to 2006 when Rick was made king). The Vikings almost killed Favre, and he STILL was a leader on the team. He threw the team on his shoulders and tried to win that Saints game on his own. So ofc he throws an INT. I hate Favre. Im not big on Packer rejects the Vikes pick up. THEY SHOULD HAVE GIVEN A CONTRACT TO CASE. Give him a 2 year deal to stay with the Vikes and maybe give them a championship. Sorry for shouting, but its makes so much more sense then Cousins. Why cant Ricky draft a QB worth a sh*t?

So is Tom Brady. Jared Goff is pretty similar too in that regard (I'd say Goff is an incredibly similar QB to Cousins, actually). The thing is, they have offensive coaches who have a plan, offensive lines that do great jobs, both teams had stellar running games, and both QBs had plenty of guys to throw to. How much of that did Cousins have? Let's see... he had two really good WRs, and... um... yeah, that's it. Unathletic QBs can work in this league, but your team needs to be built for it. Spielman and Zimmer do deserve more blame there.

I think they seriously miscalculated the damage the O-line took over the 2018 offseason. Losing Joe Berger, moving Remmers to guard and starting Rashod Hill, having Tony Sparano die, Easton misses the year with neck surgery... some of that was unavoidable, but they needed to build depth on the O-line and they simply didn't. They spent key resources on Sheldon Richardson and Mike Hughes... how much did they actually help in 2018?
