This is the NFL, Cousins doesn't have to wait for Thielen to turn around, he should know what the route is, AND should be throwing it before Thielen turns around. The only thing Cousins needs to do is read the defense and it's clear from Cousins POV that there were going to be no defenders in that area before Theilen turns around. The ball should be right there just as he turns around. But hey, maybe this is the problem with our offense, or Cousins, maybe he is in fact waiting for receivers to finish their routes before he throws it. It would explain why he's throwing a lot of checkdowns because ain't nobody going to be open downfield if you're waiting for them to finish routes and come to a complete stop.
The other thing is, if Rudy stays over there to block the LB, Murray can release into the flat and THEN Cousins can hit him for a nice little gain because there are no defenders over there either. Or maybe Rudolph is a better blocker than Murray (doubtful) and can buy Cousins the time he needs to hit Thielen.
It was second and 14.
