Yeah I refuse to refer to him by that "name". It's Anthony. I think he's a good analyst though, I just don't know why they need 2 analysts. Witten needs to go. They were even arguing about whether the Vikings should go for it or kick the FG, and I thought Anthony was right. You kick the FG there and make it a FG game, especially when you're getting shutout. You can't tell me it wasn't bothering the players that they were getting shutout. Get that monkey off their back. It was a low scoring game too, so points were at a premium. On the other hand Dan Beetle Bailey, so I no longer know what to think about it. Maybe Zim is tired of getting burned by useless kickers.

Definitely should've kicked the FG. I could see if Minn was marching up and down the field the whole game...when your offense is clicking, 4 & 1s aren't terribly bad to come by. High Risk/High Reward. But, you guys didn't even pass the 50 until the second half..ugh.

Maybe that was a message like you said.

B-b-but I though defenses win championships? Only if they're capable of scoring like the '85 Bears, '00 Ravens, '02 Bucs, and '12 Seahawks. The rare time our defense gets a huge pick in a crucial game, they fall down in the open field. If Kendricks takes that to the house ... ohhh never mind, I'm not going to do it to myself.

And it wasn't even the 1st game of the season where we failed to cross the 50 in the 1st half lol. Those mighty Buffalo Bills hold the honor, led by defensive mastermind Leslie Milquetoast Frazier. I'm just never going to forget that Bills game. PTSD wise, it already ranks right up there with some of our more recent playoff choke jobs.

The Vikings weren't going to drive the length of the field many more times, if at all, so you go for it ... if you don't get it, rely on your defense to do its thing and get good field position and try again. I agree with the decision there; it just didn't work out.

You really had confidence they would have been able to mount another sustained drive? No, if you're losing a game like the Vikings were, and you can take the lead with a TD, take your shot.
The problem is Cousins threw to Rudolph when he should have gone to Thielen. Never mind the three plays prior to that. Run with Murray-fine.

Low percentage pass to the back corner-why not the crossing routes you call two plays later that gives Cousins two options coming to the middle of the field?

Botched read option to Cook-firstly, the read option needs to stop being a facet of the Vikings game plan, because Cousins isn't going to run, so there is really no OPTION to speak of. Secondly, all the success the Vikings were having running-and they were having some, was going right, behind Remmers and O'Neill who seem to be your better run blockers-this play went left, behind Compton and Elflein, I don't like it. I don't really like running out of the shotgun at all in short yardage. I think I would have Cook and Ham, with two tight ends, and I run a little bootleg action to Rudolph-it seems to have worked pretty well for every other QB who has graced the Northland since Rudolph got here. But, God forbid you actually incorporate the tight end into your passing attack.

Of course, this discussion is taking place right after the news broke that DeFillipo was fired-so whether you agree with me or not? Mike Zimmer didn't agree with John DeFillipo.
