Just by reading the title, I guessed who the Vikings fans would pick ... but I'm not sure I agree.

Of the guys that played close to full seasons, Jackson, Bridgewater and Ponder.

For me, its Jackson. During the time Jackson was out injured, he was thoroughly outclassed by a QB who scraped together an 8-3 record in back up: 37 year old Gus Frerotte. A crucial reason why Minnesota lost a playoff game was it had to start Tarvaris Jackson instead of an almost 40 year old Gus Frerotte who was throwing more interceptions than touchdowns. That's insane.

Yep, I had removed that one from my memory. Mike Lynn waited way to long to find replacement players and the Vikings lost 3 games with the dregs of the fillins.

It's skewed in almost every case towards recent players. And, some of these guys played like 3 or 4 games... that's not enough.

Is Ponder the worst Vikings QB to start the majority of games multiple seasons? Probably, but that's because Tarvaris Jackson and Steve Dils didn't start most of the games but once-Jackson in '07, Dils in '83. I for one, think the best way to judge bad QBs relative to each other-is to watch their BEST games. The bad stays with you more than the good with a lot of these guys, and everybody (see Drew Brees last night)is capable of really, really sucking. But, if the best of one guy is better than the best of another, he's probably better.

I have my opinion, I think Ponder was better than Jackson. Some games to peruse for these two would probably be: Jackson in Weeks 15 & 16 in 2008...that is probably as good a two week stretch as he put together...he won NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his effort against Arizona.
Ponder against Green Bay in Week 17 of 2012 or Washington in Week 10 2013.
Then people can make their own decisions about the worst of two pretty bad QBs.

Yeah I think there has to be some sort of minimum requirement, although most QB's who are this bad aren't going to be around for a minimum, so tough call. Like Spergon Wynn. And obviously it's going to be skewed more toward recent QB's because reddit is more of a younger crowd and people probably don't care how bad a QB was before they were a fan lol. Steve Dils doesn't even register with me. Tommy Kramer and Wade Wilson were the regular starters when I started watching, so I can't really speak to how bad Steve Dils looked unless I went by stats alone.

Christian Ponder is hands down the Vikings worst QB. I would consider Tarvaris, but Ponder was drafted in the 1st round and was expected to be a franchise guy. And he was given every opportunity. TJoke wasn't taken until the last pick of the 2nd round and there really wasn't any expectations for him because Culpepper was in his prime. Although Childress did try to thrust him into that role in 2007 AND 2008 for whatever reason.

And again we could probably bring up how much the QB position has changed over time. Joe Namath is in the HoF, but if anyone put up the numbers he put up today, they won't last too long as a starter. A .500 QB who barely completed 50% of his career passes, had 50 more INT's than TD's, threw for fewer than 200 YPG, and had a career rating of 65.5. And Jets fans think Bollinger was this worst QB lol? He was a 6th rounder who only played half a season.

I don't think this had anything to do with pedigree, it was just straight-up who was the worst QB. So in that respect, I think T-Jack would pretty clearly be worse than Ponder.
