It has to be considered. But even based on the stats Jackson was marginally better. His YPG is down only because he came off the bench in a lot of games. If you want to call the stats a push then we have to defer to expectations to break the tie.

Thanks for the stats, ReignDude, T-Jack's are a little better than what I thought (I started watching the Vikings closely in 2009, just sporadically before then, some my memory back then is blurry), and I was going to point out that Ponder's rushing stats as what would push him over the top as the better QB, but then I saw those sack stats... holy crap! Ponder took 95 sacks? A quick QB like him shouldn't be taking as many sacks, but I guess if we're going sack/start rate, it's:

Jackson: 2.35 (sacks per start)
Ponder: 2.64
Teddy: 3.95

Alright, never mind, Bridgewater's sack numbers make Ponder look good!

But I don't think Teddy is in the same class as these other two... sure, he's overrated by some, but he wasn't bad. His stats look more like a game manager than a terrible QB's.

Oh, and one more thing:

Fumbles per start
Jackson: 0.75
Ponder: 0.56
Bridgewater: 0.39

I busted that myth with a chart around here somewhere. For some reason people think mobile QB's take fewer sacks, when the opposite is true. I'm not going to rehash the entire chart, but I like to use Mike Vick and Drew Bledsoe as my poster children when it comes to this topic. Arguably one of the better known mobile QB's vs arguably one of the better known statues.

I had a chart where I compared 30 mobile guys to 30 statues, but I can't remember where I posted it. It was no contest, statues get sacked a lot less than mobiles.

As offensive linemen say, it's harder to block for a mobile guy because you don't know where they're going to be most of the time. People think it's best to have a more mobile QB behind a bad OL, and maybe that's true in some situations, but the stats would suggest otherwise. A pocket QB who can quickly read a defense and get rid of the ball is your best bet. Marino, Manning, and Brady come to mind. Doesn't hurt to have a guy like Young or Rodgers who can do both however.

Where did you get 13? He only started 1 game for the Vikings and got sacked 3 times. He looked halfway decent (statistically) in 3 other games he played off the bench. If you wanted me to hate the guy you could have just said he was the starter the last time the Vikings got shutout, at Green Bay, 34-0. Boom! Done! Why the hell am I defending this guy?

I think you should also look at how they played in pressure situations.

Ponder played the most efficient, turnover free football of his career the last four games of 2012 when the Vikings had zero margin of error in making the postseason, 4 TDs/1 INT and a rushing score. They went 4-0. Yes, Adrian Peterson was sealing his MVP over the same span, but Ponder's best game was a virtual playoff game that he won.

Jackson consistently came up small in pressure situations. In 2007, hosting Washington, winner is in-Jackson throws 2 awful first half interceptions-including one of his infamous jump passes, helping put the Vikings down 22-0 at the half before Jackson put up a three garbage time TDs to make it a slightly more respectable 32-21. But, my favorite sequence? Jackson throws a TD to Kleinsasser to make it 25-7, the Vikings recover an inside kick! Going to make it a game? Nope, Jackson goes 1-2 for six yards and gets sacked leading to a Kluwe punt.
Then there's the Wild Card Round game in 2008 against the Eagles, 15-35 for 164 and a pick six.
