While looking the entire scope view of this game will tell you that the Jets should lose this one. Vikings are better on paper and with our injuries, they actually are a deeper team but that’s why the games are played on the field and not on paper. Jets can win this game. Keep the momentum going ganggreen and bring home the W. J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets!
I look at it like this if our front seven can contain the Vikings run game and if we can put some pressure on Kirk and flush him out of the pocket we win... Our safeties (Adams and likely Middleton) will help our secondary (Roberts, Claiborne, Nickerson) do enough damage on the back end to keep Thielen and Diggs in check...
Now we need our RBs, TEs (Wow feels weird to say TEs) to help Darnold force the defense to play more in the box to allow RA chances to fly... Kearse in this game will take on the role of Q. in the intermediate passing game, this should open up things for someone else to get involved unfortunately there is no one else... Maybe some more Fake Screen Wheel plays using both Herndon and Lazy on vertical routes could be options...
As much as I like Meyers and now he is cemented into Jets history we can survive another 7 FG performance if we want to get this winning streak to 3...

Adam Thielen vs Parry Nickerson.
Remember that matchup.
Gulp.

I don't expect to win, I just hope the Jets are competitive and Darnold leads the O to some nice TD drives.
This game is going to get ugly quick. Thielen and Diggs are going to be a nightmare for the secondary and Richardson and Hunter a nightmare for the o line.
Too many key injuries to overcome.
I hope I'm wrong but I don't see a win or even a close game this week.

I feel like I did before Jacksonville. And that didn’t turn out well. The injuries are growing, and I really don’t like the matchups of our banged up secondary against Thielen and Diggs.
This could get ugly in a hurry. If Luck torched us with no-name WR’s, imagine what Cousins will do.
We’re gonna need an excellent game plan this week.

So the game on Sunday is going to be tough. That would mean they beat Cousins and won their 3rd in a row. The spread isn't bad, but it is a tough (but winnable) game.
The point of this thread is to say IF the Jets win, things are going to get real.
I am not saying the Jets will win, this was an If. I am nervous about this game. But if they win, Chicago, Miami and the Bills up next....it definitely changes the outlook on the season.
6 and 4 heading into the Patriots game on 11/25 anyone?

I see no reason we should lost any of the subsequent 3 games if we beat Vikings. 7 and 3 into NE, probably flexed to Sunday night.
You guys are banking on a Todd Bowles team winning 6 games in a row? Wow. With Enunwa, Johnson & Maye out? If this happens Todd will be the Jets coach for years to come. I would love to see them at 7-3, but with the inconsistency this team shows, plus the injuries mounting, I'd be SHOCKED to see it happen. Stranger things have happened, plus Sam is the real deal, I just don't think he's has the horses around him to win that race.
This game will be a battle of powerhouse offense vs powerhouse defense assuming our defense shows up. I believe the vikings have more talent on their roster than we do and that we are the underdogs in this one but there have been bigger upsets and I hope we pull this one off.
I honestly don’t care if they win or lose. Obviously when they win it’s great but I’m more worried about the progression of Darnold and young players.
Jets should win this game. Thry are home and the teams have performed similarly through 6 games overall. The Vikings have actually been outscored for the year, they lost to the Bills and 2 of thier 3 wins have been against Arizona and SF. This isnt the same team as last year.
That being said, the Jets normally lay an egg when confronted with prosperity so I get the concern.

Just checked the weather forecast 20-30 MPH winds sustained, 45 degrees. This changes the game completely, Cousins might get grounded by the wind, and it could become a battle of running games, best guys in the trenches win the game.
This kind of forecast I believe favors the Jets because how big the implications are on slowing Cousins, Theilen, Diggs, and Rudolph who under ideal conditions would probably combine for 20+ catches, 300+ yards, and a 2-4 TD passes. Now with this wind that could be drastically affected, so will the Jets, but the Jets are more reliant on running the ball, screen passes and RPO slants, and quick seam routes which would be more successful then a downfield attack in that wind.

Just play a clean game, we can win this if we just do what we’ve done the last 2 weeks. If we start turning the ball over we won’t be able to claw back into it.
I would feel more confidence if the secondary wasn't so banged up. The Vikes WR's would be a match-up nightmare if all in the secondary were healthy but now it could get downright nasty. For the Jets to win they have to apply constant pressure on Cousins, score TD's instead of FG's and run the ball down their throats to keep the Vikes offense off the field. Tall order. I think the Jets can win but they will need to play flawless football for the whole game. We will see but TBH I expect the Jets to play hard but fall short. I hope they prove me wrong.
Vegas has the Vikings giving 3.5 points and what's the over, 46? So it sounds like it's going to be a low scoring game of attrition. The money line is +190 for the Vikings, +160 for the Jets. I dont think that bodes well for a young team led by a 21 year old rookie but I also dont think this is the same Vikings team as last year.
On the plus side, Joseph and Hunter are questionable and Griffin is out. If they're down Hunter or Joseph too, that could swing things into the Jets favor the way the OL has been playing the past 2 weeks and they're already giving up 24 pts a game.
It's all about containing Thielen and Diggs. Thielen already had 700+ yards on the season...that's nuts! If they can keep those 2 from going crazy, the Jets can win for sure.

Our injuries are in our secondary and our wideouts. Basically, our disadvantage will be in the passing game on both sides of the ball which would be a HUGE disadvantage normally. In this game with high winds, it may give us a HUGE advantage.
It’s setting up to be an interesting game. I think this is our signature game for our offensive and defensive lines and we win in the trenches. Their running game is terrible anyways. Lot of short passes with zip and a ball control offense by Sam. I just hope he is ready for the weather in the Northeast and wind. He may not handle it well.

This is a game that I feel the Jets have to win to remain somewhat relevant, and to be taken somewhat seriously. If they lose, everyone will say they always wet the bed against good teams, which during Bowles tenure, they absolutely have.
We are 3-3. Vikings are no joke. We probably owe Kirk Cousins a big time. Thanks to him, we have Darnold that makes us look forward to next 15 years of Jets football.
Vikings are a good team so a win won't be easy but why not? Let's go Jets!!!

Cousins is licking his chops after that game. Jets need to tighten up the D bigtime, since presumably the Vikings won't have their best receivers out.
But it's sure nice that this game arrives with no questions about whether losing out on Cousins was a disaster.

Not an impossible task the way the Vikes have looked so far.
Obviously we would need to put forth a good effort, limit penalties and TOs and catch a break or two.
Not going to go in expecting a win but will not be shocked if we do.
Just looking for effort and Darnold to keep growing as a qb.

Hopefully Vikes are looking past us to the Saints game. And we shock them like Buffalo did.
Nice that for a change, WE are the trap...
