What's with the Packers and their affection for mediocre OC's lol? McCarthy wasn't a very good OC when the Packers hired him. The Titans just put up a whopping 310 points this year. Lafleur was the Rams OC in 2017, but McVay was the real mastermind there. And that's pretty much his entire NFL resume. Also Falcons QB coach in 2015-2016. Yes please hire Lafleur lol. Josh McDaniel is probably their primary target.
I don't get some of these names being floated around. Pagano? Why? The only thing he's known for is getting cancer. I'm pretty sure the Colts wish they would have held onto Ariens instead, but firing Pagano at the time would have been a bad PR move.
McCarthy too. Has everyone forgotten how lousy the Packers were every time Rodgers went down? If that doesn't tell you everything you need to know. I mean jeez, the Packers weren't even that great with Rodgers. Hello?
I see Eric Bieniemy drawing some interest too. That will be another mistake. 1 year as OC for a team where he wasn't actually the OC. Andy Reid was calling the shots there. Not to mention that offense was more about Mahomes and those weapons than anyone. Giving Bieniemy credit for that would be like giving any of Peyton Manning's OC's credit for anything. What's his other claim to fame? Adrian Peterson's RB coach lol? Lets like giving McCarthy credit for how good Rodgers is.
I guess I don't envy GM's right now. Not many hot young coordinators. A lot of them seem to be on their 1st year. I haven't seen Don Martindales name being floated around. Nobody wants a defensive minded coach? I guess Fangio is getting some attention.
I also wonder if any of these fired HC's will go back to coordinating.
