Wow, there goes all the playoff aspirations. They were thoroughly outcouched on all sides of the ball. BYU knew it needed crazy aggression to win and they pulled out all the stops and pulled it off, their first win on the road against a ranked opponent in more than ten years.

Simply shocking stuff. The bottleneck on the Wisconsin Badgers is the quarterback play. The passing offense simply isn't there.

This can be the All Purpose Suicide Watch thread for when a team with major aspirations gets downed by an unranked underdog.

I don't follow college football, at all, but in NFL terms, a Packers loss always feels as great as a Vikings win, so I'm sure this is something similar for you weirdos that think college football is even somewhat entertaining xD. Oooo I can't wait until the voters tell me how good my team is. What is this, figure skating?

Maybe Iowa can do it next week. Most fun I had in the last few years on this topic was 2 - 3 years ago when Wisconsin was ranked #1 in women's hockey most of the year. Little did the voters or Wisconsin notice that the Gophers got a player back after concussion issues from 2 years before in the Olympics. That player was Amanda Kessel who was the best female player in college hockey. From there it was no contest. Gophers won the NCAA and blew Wisconsin out a couple of times on the way there. (Disclaimer, Gophers had been ranked between 6th and 3rd in the polls before her return).
For the record do not care what sport Wisconsin loses at, just like it to be all of them.

Shocker upset this week, a winless Old Dominion team that hadn't beat Power 5, ACC or a Ranked team in its ten year history that lost in a shutout blowout to VT last time they played them in a game that didn't see the OD team cross the fifty yard line just pimpslapped the team for 49 points on a 49-35 win. Easily gonna be upset of the week. Mindblower.

Big 10 is really down this year. Ditto for the Big 12 and Pac 12. ACC sucks if not for Clemson. Not many strong teams out there. Ohio St is vastly overrated. So is Michigan. SEC isn't very deep and this started last year. Perhaps the talent pool is being stretched very evenly across the nation.

Watching Michigan struggle and pucker up against Indiana at home made me realize how they will be crushed should they make the final four playoff. Same for OSU. They can't stop a nosebleed. Terrible effort on D.

Yes, but Michigan was the best defense in the country and look at the number Ohio State just hung on them. But there is only one spot open, Ohio State needs to beat Northwestern by a huge number next weekend.

I'm pulling for the Wildcats. OSU is a bit of a fraud IMO. Urban Meyer's record as an underdog is really good but they'll be favored in that Big 10 title game. This is an emotional trap game. They were peeking ahead while playing Maryland and now might be guilty of the same with the final four selection. Hard to take NW seriously. They better. The Wildcats just find ways to win.

As for Michigan's defense, it's hardly been tested. They have some collective talent but let's face it, they've been feasting on a poor conference this season.

Do not like seeing this. To follow up on your comment, why not have the best 3 SEC teams and Clemson. That would be all it takes to make sure that Alabama's second 22 is probably better than almost all the other teams in the nation. Same as a lot of the SEC talent. Do not want to see that happen or you may see the SEC and maybe a few other schools form a second pro league. With the NCAA issues, that could be where this is heading.
I have seen posts that Bama could make the playoffs in the NFL, it may not take more than a few years of that type of story to make this come true.

I have seen posts that Bama could make the playoffs in the NFL, it may not take more than a few years of that type of story to make this come true.

They've built an empire and the past 10 years have won without a decent QB. Now they have an elite college QB. And look at them go. Look at Duke today. They have arguably the top 3 picks in next year's NBA draft on their team with a decent supporting cast. They should crush everyone in their path although coach K isn't the best strategic coach which levels the playing field there a bit.

I wouldn't buy into some of that radical talk about what could happen to stop Alabama from dominating. I say good for them. They built a dynasty and are reaping the benefits. Someone else needs to build a better dynasty, that's all. Auburn beat them last year and they barely squeaked by against Georgia in the final. There will be no pro league branched out from the NCAA. That would compromise the professional/amateur status.
And if they played in the NFL, they'd get destroyed. This argument has been going on since the 70's.
