I'm starting a new thread for the Vikings Depth Chart that will be continually updated this time.

-Positions that need competition/bodies-

I would like to see one more offensive lineman added for competition between O'Neill, Compton, and Isidora.

I think we could use one more veteran linebacker to compete with Downs, Brothers, and the others. Eric Wilson is the only one I believe is a near-lock to make the team.

7 guys at CB is low for a 90 man roster. I think we have a decent 6 man group (minus Richardson), but more competition should be added. Maybe a vet who's played slot before just in case.

-Positions of Strength-

Spielman, slow down on the edge rushers! The Vikings have gathered a large amount of back-end pass rushers, and I feel like they're going to unearth a gem there. Tashawn Bower has flashed whenever he got snaps, whether it be preseason or 10 regular season snaps. Odenigbo looked good last year, but he's going to square up against Aruna and Hercules (gotta use his first name), two guys are who talented enough to make an NFL roster.

Defensive tackle is also looking good, with Johnson and Holmes, both 4th rounders, facing off for snaps behind Richardson and Joseph. I like Dylan Bradley too. You can't say the Vikings skimped out on the D-line with a straight face.

The Vikings sure have a lot of WRs. There will tons of competition between those marginal guys, and maybe (hopefully) they can push Treadwell to improve or push him off the roster. King can be a passable #4 WR, and there are plenty of guys with some potential (Coley, Robertson).

Any thoughts? Are there any free agents the Vikings should add?

They'll see if they have anything in Mack Brown or the UDFAs, and if not, there will be plenty of decent 3rd HBs getting cut to pick up. For example, Alfred Morris is just out there in free agency after rushing for 4.8 YPC last season. Orleans Darkwa was the only decent Giants HB and he's a FA.

Newman will likely begin training camp as the starting slot corner, but I don't expect him to be a starter for the fourth straight season.

Well, that's probably not how it's going to start out, and I probably shouldn't have put him there. But I also didn't want to put Compton or Isidora there...

Some sources thought he could play guard, though.

If Remmers moves to guard can we restructure him to a guard pay scale and not a OT ? If DeFilpo is as good as we think he is then he should be able to maximize the talent, or at this point lack of, and get the guys in positions to win--he is not going to call 7 step drops and put an average oline at risk...at least I don't think so.

...What if O'neil hits and he can play RT this season. So much concern--and its warranted--about him being a project, but if he wins the job and plays well the Oline suddenly has depth. I know, I know its unlikely but the guy has 2nd round talent so it is possible.

Well, I do think Rieff is much better than Kalil was, though he needs to have a better 2018. I'm unsure about Hill playing RT, so I hope Remmers can play there. He'd be far better than what Andre Smith and Clemmings brought us in 2016.

I hope the Vikings can find a RG like they did in 2015 - they had no idea who the starter was going to be going in to training camp, and Mike Harris (formerly a swing tackle) won the job and was one of the team's best O-linemen. Unfortunately he was forced into retirement with a rare brain condition...

I feel like Vikings fans have been saying this for years.

As some continue to point out here, it's a league-wide problem. But, yes ... it would have been nice to nab someone more reliable early in the draft.

I don't think the O-Line is as bad as everyone predicts. I understand there's no household names on the line but they held their own last season. Not many quality tackles you're going to find these days. The tackles we have now are better than Kalil and that guy we got from Cincy.
